Techdoc

With the rise of augmentations there also arose problems. One of many was the issue of medical treatment and maintenance. While the first models were prided on being nigh-harmless on bodies, with the boom in demand for augmentations more companies and government agencies were less interested in long term effects and cost effectiveness. This led to many augmentations requiring not only maintenance but also changes to how the individual was operated on as otherwise it may, especially in the more heavily augmented, result in death. Thus the rise of Techdocs. While the ideal techdoc is a master of both biology, mechanics, and IT (due to the nature of dumb-AI being used to communicate between the pseudo-nerves and the brain) the exams are both strenuous and expensive. Techdocs hold an extremely lucrative position and are in constant demand. However, due to the rigorous demands of becoming a techdoc and the aforementioned demand there has been a growing number of underground techdocs. These underground techdocs range from self-taught to disgraced techdocs to fraudsters. Even so due to the high demand and reduced price these underground techdocs offer they are some of the wealthiest of criminals, even if most of that money goes to security and bribes
