Fable of Corvy Sue

One of Queen Eléouisse’s favorite childhood storybooks about a mouse’s adventure. “In the heart of the Faerie Dream Realm, where flowers sang and moonlight sparkled like sugar, there lived a tiny mouse named Corvy Sue. She was no ordinary mouse—oh no! Corvy Sue wore a patched-up cloak, carried a shiny needle for a sword, and had the bravest heart of them all. One fine morning, as the dew kissed the petals of the tulip trees, Corvy Sue heard a cry for help. “Oh, dear!” squeaked a butterfly with torn wings. “The Grumbletoad has taken my shimmer dust, and without it, I cannot fly!” Corvy Sue puffed out her tiny chest. “Don’t you worry, Butterfly! I’ll get your shimmer dust back!” And off she went, her needle sword tucked in her belt, her whiskers twitching with determination. Through the Wiggly-Windy Woods she scampered, where roots curled like sleepy dragons. Past the Giggle Creek she splashed, where bubbles burst into laughter. Finally, she reached the Grumbletoad’s lair, a soggy old mushroom that smelled like wet socks. “Grumbletoad!” Corvy Sue called out, her voice as sharp as her needle sword. “Return the shimmer dust, or I shall poke you with my sword!” The Grumbletoad, a big green lump with a warty nose, bellowed, “Who dares challenge me, the greatest toad in the realm?” “I do!” said Corvy Sue, standing tall on her little paws. The Grumbletoad laughed so hard, he snorted bubbles from his nose. “A mouse? What can a mouse do?” But Corvy Sue was clever. She darted between the toad’s legs, climbed up his back, and gave his biggest wart a tiny poke with her needle. “Yowch!” croaked the Grumbletoad, hopping madly. “Take the shimmer dust and leave me be!” With a triumphant squeak, Corvy Sue snatched the little jar of shimmer dust and raced back through the Wiggly-Windy Woods and Giggle Creek to the butterfly. “Oh, Corvy Sue!” cried the butterfly, as she sprinkled the dust onto her wings. “You’ve saved me! How can I ever thank you?” Corvy Sue smiled. “Just keep flying and spreading joy. That’s all the thanks I need.” And so, the butterfly flew off into the sparkly sky, and Corvy Sue, the brave little mouse, returned home to her cozy nook, ready for her next grand adventure. The Faerie Dream Realm was safe once more, all thanks to the tiniest, mightiest hero of them all: Corvy Sue.”
