Machu Picchu
Located at Eastern Cordillera of southern Peru on a mountain ridge. Build around 1450 under Emperor Pachacuti as a royal estate. Nestled 2430 meters (or 1,5 miles in freedom units) high in the Andes, it features sophisticated dry-stone architecture, terraced fields, and structures like the Temple of the Sun and Intihuatana stone, reflecting Inca engineering and astronomical prowess. Abandoned around the mid-16th century during the Spanish conquest, it remained hidden with its ruins overgrown.
