In a wide three-quarters view of a sunlit school music room, three girls rehearse their musical pieces together in matching cute junior high school sailor uniforms—crisp white short-sleeved blouses with deep navy sailor collars trimmed in white, neatly knotted red neckerchiefs, high-waisted pleated navy skirts, and white crew socks with school indoor slippers. All three have completely unadorned hair and bare earlobes. At the center, a girl with short pale-blonde hair and amber eyes stands in an upright, poised posture, her chin and shoulder securely cradling a polished wooden violin while her right hand draws the horsehair bow across the strings, her disciplined gaze fixed intently upon open sheet music propped on a black metal music stand. To her right, a girl with buoyant, wavy light-blue hair and bright blue eyes balances with lively asymmetry on one foot, tilting slightly as she lowers a gleaming brass trumpet from her lips with a radiant, open-mouthed grin, her fingers resting lightly on the valve pistons. To the left, a girl with bobbed light-brown hair and warm brown eyes sits upright on a wooden bench at an electric keyboard, her hands actively depressing the keys while she casts a playful, teasing sideways smile toward her bandmates. The environment features tall multipaned casement windows along the left wall, a deep green chalkboard in the background scribbled with chalk staves and quarter notes, and warm polished hardwood floorboards. Strong late-afternoon sunlight slants through the glass panes at a sharp diagonal angle, catching airborne motes of powdered rosin rising from the violin strings, casting crisp, elongated shadows across the floorboards. Joyful, harmonious energy.
