A Fate so Horrible to Forget

Seela overhears fragments of the discussion between Dastan and Raika. At first, she pays little attention, until she hears Dastan mentioning the night he saved her. He explains how a series of visions led him through the city and directly to her. More troubling, however, is what he says next. Nightmares. Same recurring nightmare, night after night of what was meant to happen... if he hadn't been there to change her fate. One where she was stripped of her dignity, left broken by cruelty, and eventually succumbed to her heart disease. A fate so horrifying that the memory has remained with him ever since. Even now, speaking about it causes his expression to darken. For the first time, Seela realizes that the burden Dastan carries may be far heavier than she ever imagined.
