Her real name was Kurenai. Once, she challenged the guardian deity of the sea to a battle, but lost and was critically injured. After receiving a blood transfusion from Shisui, who came to her rescue, her hair turned purple. Ever since, she held deep respect for Shisui and wanted a name similar to hers, which led her to adopt the name Shiu.
