Global Observation

"Bring up the northern hemisphere, center co-ordinates... latitude thirty-two point two, longitude negative sixty-four point eight." The globular semisphere fills in with a rich blue, with a large patch of dusky brown showing the nearby continent. Just off center, a bizarre abnormality whirls in real time. Yet another fracture. Its presence garners a long, drawn-out sigh, "I thought we'd rectified this centuries ago... why is it suddenly acting up like this now?" The vortex whirls unbidden, straining the matrices meant to prevent it from ever occurring, unsuited for containing it at such size and intensity. In theory, it could hold for another day or so, maybe a week at best. But the time it would take to understand why it had formed, let alone properly correct would take months, if not years of research. Another sigh, "Inform them that we're going to try and perform a controlled seepage between realities. Block all transport in that area, send a mass waring out. And be ready to dispatch agents to intervene with any accidental incursions from the opposite side." He taps his finger against the desk in front of him, glancing down at the photos of his two most recent apprentices; Young Austin and Perry. It had been two years since they'd arrived. Cold and confused. They'd adjusted well enough. But to know that there was no sure way for them to return home... he'd not wish it on any soul that dared risk a voyage when that vortex was active.
