Calakmul's Structure II

Located in modern day Campeche, Guatemala. The real name is lost to history, it's been since then been referred plainly as 'Structure II'. The natural rich geographic surroundings would give rise the powerfull Mayan city-states like Calakmul.This pyramid was constructed overtime by the various rulers before it reaches the final height of 164 feet/50 meters which is among the highest in the Maya world. It is thought to be the final resting place of Jaguar Paw Smoke as Structure II served the dual purpose of both a tomb & temple during the Calakmul era. Structure II outlasted Calakmul and the later Mayan City-states who would build upon it further. It's possible that Structure II has been build upon over 10 centuries.
