Gathering every ounce of courage she has, Seela confronts Dastan the following morning with the question that has haunted her. She understands now that the visions brought him to her. She understands that he saw something terrible was going to happen. But none of that explains why he stayed. Why he continued protecting her long after the immediate danger had passed. Why he treats her as someone worth watching over. For the first time, she asks him directly: "If there hadn't been a vision... would you still have cared?"
