Shin Godzilla is a 2016 Japanese kaiju film directed by Hideaki Anno (creator of Evangelion) and Shinji Higuchi. It serves as a reboot of the franchise, returning Godzilla to its roots as a terrifying natural disaster and a metaphor for nuclear tragedy.

"Shin Godzilla is a modern masterpiece that reimagines the iconic monster. Instead of focusing solely on the destruction, it highlights the political chaos and complex decision-making of the Japanese government. Directed by Hideaki Anno, it features a terrifying, evolving creature that symbolizes the fears of contemporary Japan."
