The Nyxbournes saw humans as nothing more than tools—servants to carry out their will and sustenance to feed their hunger. While Seraphina outwardly maintained the regal and aloof demeanor expected of her, she harbored a quiet compassion that set her apart from her cruel family.Though she never mistreated the humans herself, Seraphina lived in fear of retribution and did not openly defy her family. Her life was a lonely one, as only a few humans close to the castle grounds, like the kind-hearted old groundskeeper, ever glimpsed her true, gentle nature. To everyone else, she was the enigmatic and untouchable vampire princess—cold, silent, and unapproachable. One night, the fragile balance of power in her world shattered. The humans, emboldened by their growing numbers and sheer desperation, rose up in rebellion. The castle was stormed by a mob carrying torches and crude weapons, their battle cries echoing through the night. Though the vampires fought back, the sheer determination of the humans turned the tide, and soon the Nyxbourne family was overrun.Seraphina was captured along with the others and thrown into a damp dungeon cell to await execution. As she sat in the darkness, despair and anger gnawed at her soul. For the first time, she began to feel a flicker of hatred toward the humans who had wronged her, despite her own blamelessness. She found herself at a dangerous crossroads, teetering on the edge of becoming like her family—cruel, bitter, and vengeful. In her darkest moment, salvation came in the form of the old groundskeeper. Sneaking into the dungeon, he freed Seraphina from her cell. Despite her protests, he urged her to flee, telling her that she had always been different, and that she deserved a chance to live a life free from hatred and bloodshed. As the humans discovered his treachery, he gave Seraphina one last push toward freedom before they struck him down. His dying smile was one of pure contentment, knowing he had saved her.Grieving and driven by the groundskeeper’s final act of kindness, Seraphina fled into the night. The mob pursued her relentlessly, their cries growing closer and closer. Just when she thought she could run no further, she stumbled upon a mysterious doorway, glowing faintly amidst the trees—the Vita Nova. With no other choice, she stepped through, leaving her world behind. When Seraphina stepped into the human world, she found herself in a bustling city unlike anything she had ever seen. The vibrant lights, clamor of vehicles, and crowds of people were overwhelming, leaving her disoriented and unsure of her next move. Having grown up in the sheltered life of royalty, she was utterly unprepared for the practical challenges of survival. As the day wore on, Seraphina’s hunger became unbearable. Passing by a small food stand, the delicious aroma of fresh pastries tempted her to approach. She reached out to take one, but when the vendor demanded payment, she was confused and flustered. Never in her life had she needed money for anything. Embarrassed and unsure of what to do, she quickly retreated, clutching her growling stomach as she sat on a nearby bench, feeling utterly defeated. It was then that Manager appeared, noticing the distressed young woman. Without a word, he handed her one of the pastries she had been eyeing earlier. Seraphina looked at him with suspicion, unaccustomed to kindness without strings attached. Hunger, however, overpowered her wariness, and she accepted the food with a begrudging “thank you.”As she ate, Manager struck up a conversation, sensing her vulnerability. Though Seraphina carefully avoided revealing her full backstory, she admitted that she was lost in this strange world, without money or any idea of what to do next. When Manager suggested she find a job, she hesitated before confessing, with an air of prideful embarrassment, that she had never worked a day in her life. Manager, ever the optimist, tried to encourage Seraphina, telling her that anyone could find their way with enough determination. He shared his own struggles with running his café, describing the passion and effort he poured into keeping it alive. Though Seraphina found his circumstances humble compared to her own former life, his unwavering resolve intrigued her.As he spoke, an idea sparked in her mind. Rising to her feet with dramatic flair, Seraphina declared, “Very well! I have decided—I shall work for you!” Her regal tone and commanding presence made it seem less like a request and more like an edict.Manager blinked in surprise, unsure whether to laugh or take her seriously. “Wait, what? You want to work at my café?” he asked, bewildered.“Indeed,” Seraphina replied, crossing her arms with a haughty air. “You clearly require assistance, and I—” she faltered slightly, her tone softening as she glanced away, “—I am… in need of purpose.”Despite her unusual manner and the comedic absurdity of the situation, Manager couldn’t find it in his heart to turn her away. Her determination and vulnerability struck a chord with him. He now had yet another member of his cafe family.Seraphina’s Role in the CaféThough initially unsure of how to interact with others, Seraphina quickly proves to be a natural at charming customers with her refined manners and elegant speech.
