Aegis's Background: The Broken Weapon *Aegis was once Marcus Vance, an elite soldier in the Bodyguard.
The Fall: Betrayed by his superiors during a classified mission, his body was almost entirely destroyed by an orbital bombardment. His scarred torso (a gash on his pectoral muscle) and his face marked by stubble are the only remaining vestiges of his organic humanity.
The Rebirth: Rebuilt by clandestine mechanics from stolen military parts, he now possesses an exposed mechanical spine and heavy "Aegis"-class cybernetic limbs (shield). His vision has been altered by experimental ocular implants.
The Style: He rejects corporate culture. His sleeveless red kimono and yellow sash are an homage to the ancient samurai code of honor, fused with his gray armor. He wields a massive laser katana capable of slicing through the armor of urban tanks.
Role: He is the "tank" of the duo, the brute force and protector. Despite his imposing physique and cold gaze, he is haunted by his past and seeks to protect the oppressed of the slums.*

The Origin: Born into the opulent upper echelons of the city, she was chosen for a human-cybernetic fusion project. Her mind was directly connected to the global network, altering her eyes with an intense digital glow.
The Rebellion: Refusing to become a corporate slave, she escaped by erasing her true identity, becoming "Cypher" (the code). Her perfect, model-like face hides a calculating and cold-blooded killer.
The Technology: Her athletic body is covered in a skintight combat suit that maximizes her speed. Fluorescent red circuit boards pulse through her pale skin, pulsing with the data she downloads. Her gold facial tattoos allow her to hack any system with a single thought.
Role: She is the mastermind, the assassin, and the infiltrator. Dominant, haughty, and deadly, she uses her physique and intelligence to manipulate her targets before eliminating them without mercy.

It was her orbital targeting algorithm that struck Marcus Vance (Aegis). When she encountered him years later in the slums, she immediately recognized him by his biometric signature. Consumed by a secret guilt—which also sparked her rebellion against the system—she chose to rebuild him and become his partner.
