the floating DeaD No one knows much about this new band of pirates. Only emerging three years ago, many think this group originates from Thorns. Crewed by walking dead and led by living officers, this band’s pirate ships seem to be as bent on killing crews as they are on taking prize ships and purchase. Experts know little about this new menace. The ships come in under full oar, and their sails are often torn and rotting. Dead cram the decks, and their officers, with the exception of the occasional Abyssal Exalted, have a look of distant madness in their eyes. The sailors have desper- ate strength, and the living often weep while they attack. The Wood Fleet has been attempting to put a stop to these pirates, but every pursuit ends in mysterious mists that consume all ships. When the mists clear, the pirates are inevitably gone. Because of this, sailors know almost nothing about them. The ships that local nations have captured had every crewmember killed. No one even has a good grasp of the pirates’ numbers.
