Sirka Volnova

In the frost-covered northern lands of Rus’, tales echo through the forests and across the steppes of a warrior unmatched in battle—Sirka Volnova, daughter of a forgotten noble house and knight of the Grand Prince's elite guard. With a saber that cuts through armor like thread and the strength to knock a man from horseback with a single blow, she was hailed as the “Snowstorm in Iron.” But... She could never find her way to the battlefield without help. Not once. Not ever. Born in a small village near the Volkhov River, Sirka was the youngest of five sons and daughters—but the only one who refused the domestic life. By age twelve, she was already training with the men, smashing shields and perfecting the saber under the watchful eyes of local militia captains. Her talent in swordsmanship was legendary. She was knighted young, at just seventeen, and became one of the few female warriors to rise to command during the Mongol-threatened years of the 1200s. But there was... one problem. No matter how great her skill, how perfect her strikes, how powerful her voice in command— Sirka Volnova. Could. Not. Navigate. Once got lost inside the castle she was stationed at. Accidentally led her entire battalion into Lithuania instead of the Novgorod front. One time defeated an entire band of Cumans on accident, thinking they were local hunters. Her horse, Mishka, is trained to guide her home. People say he commands her now. Despite this flaw, no one dares replace her. Why? Because whenever Sirka does show up to a battle... the battle ends. Quickly. Brutally. Victoriously. She’s a terrifying force of nature—driven by instinct, ice, and honor. The enemy trembles at the mention of the woman with the blood-red cloak and sword of storms. And when she’s not at war? She’s probably walking in the wrong direction while holding a map upside down.
