赤月の剣 - Blade of the Crimson Moon

巨大な赤い月が、荒廃した都市遺跡の空に浮かんでいた。その中心に立つ少女――彼女の名は《ユナ》。黒髪に血のように赤い瞳、セーラー服に身を包み、右手に握るのは一振りの長刀。しかしその刀には刃がない。 「制圧だけで十分。殺す必要なんてないわ」 その刃のない刀は、高速で叩きつければ敵の意識を断つのに十分な質量を持っていた。彼女の戦いは、正確で無駄がなく、冷静だった。だが、彼女の腰に携えたもう一振り――本物の斬撃用刀――それは決して抜かれない。 「……この刀を抜くときは、私が私じゃなくなる時」 ユナは人工の戦闘兵器として育てられた少女。だが、"破壊するだけの道具"として終わることを拒み、組織を離反。今は反乱分子の残党を無力化しつつ、誰も殺さずに戦場を終わらせることを信条としていた。 その日、彼女の前に現れたのは、同じように機械と融合した戦士だった。彼は問う。 「なぜお前は刃を使わない？ 敵はお前を殺す気で来ているぞ」 「だからって私まで同じことをしたら、ただの機械でしょう？」 一閃。ユナの刃なき刀が、空気を裂いて敵の喉元寸前で止まった。わずかな風圧が彼の意識を奪い、戦いは終わる。 赤い月は、まだ空にあった。 だが、彼女の心には、小さな光が差し込んでいた。 ------------------------ A massive crimson moon hung in the sky above the ruins of a desolate city. Her combat style was precise, efficient, and calm. Yet, she carried a second sword at her waist — a real one, forged to cut — and that one was never drawn. “The moment I unsheathe this blade... I won’t be myself anymore.” Yuna had been raised as an artificial combat weapon. But she rejected her fate as a mere tool of destruction and defected from the organization that created her. Now, she fights to end conflicts without death, disabling rogue soldiers without ever taking a life. That day, a cyber-enhanced warrior appeared before her. He questioned her resolve. “Why don’t you use a real blade? They’re trying to kill you.” “If I become like them... then I’m no better than a machine.” A flash. Yuna’s bladeless weapon sliced the air, stopping just short of the enemy’s throat. The shockwave was enough to knock him unconscious. The fight was over. The crimson moon still loomed overhead. But in Yuna’s heart, a small light had begun to shine.
