【ニューマンアスレチックス】シャロン、青空の下で華麗に飛翔する！

【概要】 このキャラクターは『ナムコ』(現『バンダイナムコ』)から1993年9月に発売されたスポーツゲーム『ニューマンアスレチックス』唯一の美少女キャラクター、フランス代表のシャロン・レアールをモデルとしたイラストです。名前のアルファベット表記は「Sharon Les Halles」で、フランス人ですがシャロンの表記はフランス語圏の苗字の「Châlon」ではなく、英語圏における女性名「Sharon」との事です。 袖口にフランスの国旗がついたジャケットを着ており、身に着けているものは国旗のトリコロールと同じく赤・青・白の組み合わせで構成されています。 キャラクターデザインはtatsuya画伯です。 シンプルながらもセクシーな外見、コミカルながらも躍動感溢れる動き、そして競技失敗時の容赦ない脱げっぷりから今なお語り種とされているキャラクターとの事です。 本作の紅一点でありながら1Pキャラに据えられており、時代を考えるとかなり先見的、あるいは前衛的なキャラとも言えます。 余談ながら、当初はポニーテールにタイトスカート、ガーターストッキングという衣装でデザインされていた。しかし、ポニーテールはアニメーションが「日本人アスリートの中村雅衛門と被る(主に横向きで走る場面)」や、タイトスカートは「アニメーションが動かしにくい(作画し辛い)」との理由から、「ポニーテールがダメならツインテールにしてしまえ!」という足し算の発想と、「タイトスカートがダメなら脱がしてレオタードを見せたほうがいい!」という引き算の発想から、この衣装に落ち着いたという逸話から誕生した経緯があるとの事です。 (このあたりの変遷はデザイナーのtatsuya画伯のTwitter(現X)にて語られている) このイラストではシャロンが長距離走り幅跳びに挑戦する場面をイラスト化したものですが、ここでは原典におけるフィンガーレスグローブを嵌めず、シュシュ型リストバンドに置き換えて素手で挑んだ描写となりました。 【英訳／English】 This illustration is modeled after Sharon Les Halles, the only beautiful girl character in the sports game *Newman Athletics*, released by Namco (now Bandai Namco) in September 1993. Her name is spelled "Sharon Les Halles," and although she is French, the spelling of "Sharon" is the English female name, not the French surname "Châlon." She wears a jacket with the French flag on the cuff, and her clothing is composed of the same red, blue, and white tricolor as the flag. The character design is by artist tatsuya. She is a character still talked about today for her simple yet sexy appearance, comical yet dynamic movements, and the merciless way she strips when she fails a competition. As the only female character in the game, she is featured as the 1P character, making her quite prescient or avant-garde considering the era. As an aside, the initial design featured a ponytail, a tight skirt, and garter stockings. However, the ponytail was deemed unsuitable because the animation resembled that of Japanese athlete Masayoshi Nakamura (mainly in scenes where he runs sideways), and the tight skirt was difficult to animate (difficult to draw). Therefore, the design evolved from an additive approach of "If the ponytail doesn't work, let's make it pigtails!" and a subtractive approach of "If the tight skirt doesn't work, let's take it off and show the leotard!" This illustration depicts Sharon attempting the long jump, but instead of the fingerless gloves seen in the original, she is depicted wearing a scrunchie-style wristband and competing barehanded.
