When the Autumn Leaves Start to Fall

"The falling leaves Drift by the window The autumn leaves Of red and gold I see your lips The summer kisses The sunburned hands I used to hold Since you went away The days grow long And soon I'll hear Old winter's song But I miss you most of all My darling When autumn leaves Start to fall Since you went away The days grow long And soon I'll hear Old winter's song But I miss you most of all My darling When autumn leaves Start to fall." -Johnny Mercer, peformed by Frank Sinatra

More to See

An anime illustration of profound melancholy, set in a medium shot with a slightly elevated camera angle overlooking a solitary figure on a wooden bench within a quiet forest clearing as autumn leaves fall. A lonely anime character sits contemplatively, head lowered, their gaze fixed on empty, sunburned hands resting open in their lap—hands that once held another's. Their expression is one of profound longing and bittersweet memory. The environment is a deep, nostalgic autumn forest with towering maple and oak trees shedding vibrant red and gold leaves that drift lazily by, piling gently on the mossy ground and bench. Golden hour light filters through the dense canopy, casting long, soft shadows and illuminating the swirling leaves. A warm, saturated palette of oranges, reds, and browns dominates, with a shallow depth of field creating a soft bokeh effect on the distant trees. The atmosphere is one of quiet reflection, poetic sorrow, and the poignant beauty of seasonal change, rendered in great quality with masterful detail, sharp linework, and evocative lighting.
