The Reflection in the Rain
There's something so captivating about this piece—the contrast between the muted, rainy street and the vibrant, dreamlike colors hiding within the puddle really speaks to me. I love how a simple moment of touching the water reveals such a beautiful, hidden world. - Original Prompt
- A low-angle illustration at street level: a rain puddle in the foreground and a 24-year-old woman kneeling just behind it, her eyes fixed on the water. The puddle holds the only saturated color in the picture: beautiful light, best shadow, color blink, a reflected sky of violet dusk and coral clouds with a few turquoise window lights, its glow spilling softly over her chin, cheeks and sleeve. She wears an oversized pale gray raincoat with the hood pushed back off her head, damp black hair tucked behind her ears, and reaches one bare hand out until her fingertips just break the surface and ripples spread. Everything else is a rain-soaked alley of weathered gray-beige brick walls and bare cracked pavement: loose painterly brushwork, rough sketch lines, muted colors, edges fading into white like an empty page. Thin graphite rain streaks, shallow depth of field, painterly anime style.
