They detest violence committed personally, and will usually try to talk their way out of trouble or flee, grabbing a weapon only if they are forced to or they see an opportunity to put a dagger in somebody's back. Unlike other Tasked Genies, administrators are rarely directly bound into service by magic - they have quite an ego, and though they love their work, they do not like being treated as just tools. An unhappy administrator can turn the vital bureaucracy of a business or even an entire city into an utter shambles, and so most people instead prefer to bargain and negotiate for their services, just as if they were regular civil servants. Since they want to work, administrators are implied to rarely charge particular onerous fees outside of the general respect that they feel they deserve, but they do want to be paid well, they strongly insist on a nice set of quarters to live in, and they do like their working environment to be suitably comfortable. Administrator genies, unlike some of the other Tasked Genies, were evolved from two of the greater genie races; the djinn and the marid. Whilst this ancestry does have some lingering effects - some administrators can fly, others can breathe underwater, and they display a distinct preference for either open, airy quarters or personal fountains or other sources of water in their quarters and workplaces - the administrators are very distinctly their own creature now. Regardless of its heritage, an administrator appears as a tall, noble, attractive human whose dark tan skin has a slight bluish cast. They possess limited telepathic abilities, allowing them both to communicate with any creature of at least Low-ranked Intelligence as well as to cast Friends, Tongues, and ESP thrice a day each, and Suggestion 1/day. They are also attended to by permanent unseen servants. Administrators clearly belong to very large families, and some say there are actually only two single clans of administrator genie - one descended from djinn, one descended from Marids - and that these are simply so sprawling and labyrinthine that mere mortals haven't figured it out yet. Whilst multiple administrators may sometimes work in the same bureaucracy, these family ties mostly manifest in the ability of any individual administrator to call on an extensive array of siblings, cousins, uncles, aunts, and more remote relatives for assistance - favor trading is a big part of the administrator's own private culture. Rumor has it that there's actually a fierce rivalry between the Djinn clan and the Marid clan. Perhaps due to the nature of their work, administrators aren't as slaved to their tasks as some Tasked Genies are, and every administrator is looking forward to the day he or she can retire upon achieving a suitable level, usually leaving their role to a child or a particularly favored cousin, niece or nephew upon their departure. Young administrators fill the role of interns and assistants to adult administrators until they get a hang of working like a real administrator should - those who just lack the competence to make this final step either stay stuck riding their boss's tails or get parceled off to particularly stupid and/or offensive mortals.

Also for demolishing them, which they have no qualms about doing (though any suitably impressive site they may rebuild on their own terms later). Compared to their poor bastard cousins the Miners, they haven't diverged too greatly from their dao roots in terms of looks; usually, the easiest way to tell a builder genie from a regular dao is the ever-present architect's tools they're carrying and the great big slave ownership brand tattooed on their hand or forehead. They strongly resent their dao cousins, who are the ones who turned them into a slave race in the first place, but sadly they have limited ability to rebel against them; outside of a supernatural ability to spot the weak points in any structure, which makes them truly devastating attaches to siege weaponry and lets them demolish any non-fortified structure if given an hour to study it first, they only have a handful of spell-like abilities to call their own - they can't even pass through earth like their ancestors could! A builder genie can cast Minor Creation, Vacancy, and Warp Wood 3/day each, Stone Shape, Stone Tell, and Passwall 1/day each, and they can grant a Wish once per month - but only if it relates to building or construction in some way. If you've ever heard the myth of genies making palaces or cities spring out of nowhere overnight, it was probably builder genies responsible. Their racial focus on building stuff makes the typical architect genie a hyper-focused workaholic asshole. These guys live for their work; their only worthwhile heritage is being remembered for what they built. As such, they are merciless taskmasters, bluntly spoken and generally abrasive as all fuck. Likewise, they judge other races on their building achievements; they only respect "civilized" races, which are those that can build things like mansions, bridges, or graceful gates. This gives them a soft spot for many giant versions of eusocial insects - a builder genie would think higher of a hive of giant wasps than she would of a kender village or a town of hobbits. The greatest compliment one can pay a builder genie is to admire his work; the greatest insult one can offer is to compliment the builder while criticizing his work. That said, so long as it's constructed well, builder genies don't actually care what they build. They won't hesitate to call out their master if they think his project is stupid - for example, an opulent mansion in the middle of a poor fishing village - but they'll still do it. That said, it's best to try and soothe their egos and watch them carefully at their work; these genies are famous for taking subtle revenge by either bending instructions to suit their whims or being too literal in their obedience. Because of their focus on making every project the ultimate it could be, builder genies will always demand the longest-lasting (and thus the most expensive) materials they can get for it. This quadruples the cost, but does ensure the building also doubles its strength and functional lifespan. Incidentally, architect genies avoid combat, like most tasked genies. Fighting is for other people to do. They'll happily set up defenses like mazes and traps, and they might even selectively collapse a building on determined vandals, but they're really nothing special if you want to pick a fight.

Oh, and also carrying stuff for any sha'ir (or noble backer of a sha'ir) that manages to get on their good side. They look similar to their djinn ancestors, but are extremely lean and slender; the magic that altered them made them super-hyperactive; they operate without sleep for 40 days at a time, before collapsing and spending a week asleep in a den hidden high atop a mountain or amongst the clouds - as soon as they wake up, they're off to another 40 day stretch of work. The downside of this alteration is that they only live 10-15 years, tops. Because of this hyper-activity, and the attendant shortened lifespan, messenger genies are bundles of nervous energy; they're always moving. Waiting is intolerable to them, and they invariably have nervous habits like pacing and finger-tapping. Being a messenger is thus not only a sacred duty in its own right, but a beloved task that gives them every excuse they need to be out in the world, seeing new things and exploring - their great fixation as a race. Messenger genies think that motion in itself represents progress and goodwill; slow or immobile creatures must be either evil, lazy, or corrupt. You can only imagine what they think of hobbits - sorry, halflings. This makes them very favorably inclined towards fellow travelers... so long as they are treated with the proper respect; the rude and ill-mannered will be punished by having their mounts crippled or their footwear ruined, whilst respectful travelers in need can expect to be helped out. Such is the psychological need to keep in motion of these genies that being tied up or otherwise forcibly held still is nothing less than a form of torture, which might even break their spirits enough to make them agree to undertake a mission for somebody they don't owe service to. Of course, you'd not only have to be a real sadist to do this, you'd have to be either very desperate or very stupid, considering what's going to happen to you. See, messenger genies truly do believe in the sacred duty of the messenger and the courier. They would rather die than reveal documents held in trust, and only magical compulsion will make them do it. Because of this, they are held in the deepest respect by all genies, and noble genies in particular, as the main beneficiaries of the messenger genie network, take offenses against them very seriously. 100 years of service in penance for assaulting one, and death for stealing from one, serious. You're not likely to be attacked by messenger genies; they have better things to do than pick fights. If somebody tries to attack them, they will run rather than fight, using daggers, throwing knives and hand-darts to discourage pursuit - their only concern is the protection of whatever they're carrying. They also carry a unique magical poison called bardan ruqad, which plunges the victim into a deep magical paralysis for 1d6+4 rounds, followed by a deathly slumber for 1d6 hours. It's normally used to deliver messages to particularly dangerous or unpredictable recipients, but they're quite happy to use it to defend themselves too. Also, they can use each of the following spell-like abilities, once per day, as a 9th-level spellcaster: aura of comfort*, clear path*, lighten load*, dimensional folding*, invisibility, haste, distance distortion, and shadow door. (Spells marked with an asterisk are from the Tome of Magic and can be replaced by dimension door, Leomundโ€™s tiny hut, pass without trace, and strength.) And if you do mug a messenger genie and kill one, they can "send their spirits out on the wind", which basically means they can get off an unstoppable message to the nearest intelligent creature pleading for them to avenge the messenger's death. And if that happens to be another genie, well, you're fucked.

Artist Genies can thus be grouped into two variants; the "true" artist genie (poets, composers, musicians, sculptors, painters, and weavers), and the "craftsman genie" (potters, woodworkers, furniture makers, silversmiths, goldsmiths, decorative ironmongers, gem cutters, jade and ivory carvers, calligraphers, illuminators, gardeners, mask makers, tailors, haberdashers, and seamstresses) - mind you, the latter grouping would object most strenuously to being considered any less artist than their more highfalutin kinsfolk! Because of this, artist genies vary a lot in appearance, though their specialty does tend to present itself through their body: Sculptors have powerful shoulders from handling and hammering stone, weavers have powerful arms and quick fingers for throwing a shuttle across a loom, and painters may be quite frail but have a sharp eye for details and decoration. The craftsmen genies all have nimble fingers and a good sense of proportion. Although you'd think that'd be common sense to anyone who knows anything about genies, enslaving or mistreating artist genies is stupid: they're too devoted to their craft to deliberately flaw their work (unless they are consistently abused with no hope of escape), but anything they are forced to make will always be subpar to anything they make voluntarily. It may be annoying to have to coax and wheedle them into doing what you want, since they always prioritize doing work they enjoy before work they must, but it ultimately works out better. Regardless of their artistic specialization, all artist genies have a set of spell-like abilities, with each spell being usable twice per day: duo dimension, mirror image, illusion, polymorph self, and stone shape. The illusions of artist genies create both tactile and visual components that last without concentration until dispelled or touched with cold iron. These are often used to give visible form to mental models and ideas before a final, lasting product is produced. It may also be used by the less scrupulous artist genies to satisfy their patrons without a great deal of effort being expended in actual work. Artist genies are simultaneously very sociable - for what is art with nobody to appreciate it? - and highly isolationist; they tend to quickly form rivalries, and other artist genies are the most obvious choices for rivalry because, well, who else can measure up? And, of course, they're huge fucking snobs; anyone they deem "unskilled" or "untalented" is worth less than nothing, and only people who can "understand them" are worth talking to. At the same time, these genies are dependent on refined patrons and high levels of cultural achievement, both for the sake of being appreciated and to provide the raw materials they need for their work. Whilst some arrogant humanoid artists may talk about "living to create", that is an actual fact for these genies - an artist genie taken away from the tools of its trade and forced into idleness for protracted periods either dies or goes mad. In their dress, artist genies either push the boundaries of the latest design and daring or wear the most shabby and dated clothing imaginable. The pure artists are entirely hedonistic, though this is manifested in various ways. Some artist genies require odd foods such as stewed apples or fermented fish, while others must have parks and scenic vistas to stroll along each day for relaxation and contemplation before their work will achieve its highest level. Others will wallow in drink or gluttony, constant hot-scented baths, or exotic companionship. Slighting the work of an artist genie demands retribution, but this revenge can take many forms. A skilled critique by a knowledgeable patron may earn only some vicious gossip in return. In the case of uninformed criticism by a pretender to knowledge, some artist genies are unstable enough to simply hurl themselves at their detractor, regardless of the consequences. Others are wise enough to enjoy more subtle forms of revenge (for example, creating a work that ridicules the offending party). Sometimes revenge takes the form of a gift that is given to some rival of the tactless speaker, or a mysterious increase in the cost of producing new work for a patron. Some forms of revenge are fatal, such as a potter genie adding enough poison to a clay vessel to slowly kill anyone who eats or drinks from it.

character: eren_yeager, mikasa_ackerman character: eren_yeager, mikasa_ackerman Mikasa Ackerman and Eren Yeager are captured in the middle of a desperate ODM maneuver above a ruined city street, with Mikasa much closer to the camera and Eren cutting across the background at a different angle. Mikasa twists her entire body sideways as she launches past the viewer, one arm extended forward with a blade in hand while the other reaches back toward Eren. Her black hair whips violently across the frame and her red scarf streams far behind her in a long sweeping curve. Eren is several meters behind her, angled sharply in the opposite direction as his ODM cables stretch from his gear toward a damaged rooftop, his green jacket and hair blown backward by the speed of the maneuver. The perspective is extremely dynamic: Mikasa's outstretched hand and blade are large in the foreground while her body rapidly narrows toward the center of the image. Eren appears smaller but perfectly clear behind her, creating a strong diagonal connection between them. Their ODM cables slice through the composition as thin steel lines, crossing the image at different angles and disappearing beyond the frame. One cable passes extremely close to the camera, creating a dramatic foreground line. The ruined city beneath them is not shown as a wide landscape. Broken rooftops, shattered windows, hanging masonry, and fragments of brick rush diagonally through the lower portion of the composition, giving the impression of immense speed. Several pieces of debris are suspended around Mikasa and Eren, each frozen at a different distance from the camera. Dust catches the sunlight in thin atmospheric streaks. Mikasa's Survey Corps uniform is sharply detailed and windswept, with the cropped brown jacket open over the fitted uniform, harness straps pulled taut across her body, white trousers, tall boots, and the Wings of Freedom insignia clearly visible. Eren wears his recognizable Survey Corps uniform and green jacket, with his harness, ODM equipment, and boots rendered with precise mechanical detail. A subtle graphic-design layer is integrated into the composition without overpowering the action: Wings of Freedom emblem are overlaid across the sky, Thin white directional lines follow the trajectories of Mikasa and Eren, while small restrained military-style markings and typography sit along the edges of the frame. The graphic elements reinforce the movement rather than becoming random decoration. The entire image is frozen at one extraordinary instant: Mikasa's scarf curves through the air, Eren's jacket flares behind him, cables are pulled completely taut, debris hangs in the air, dust streams diagonally through the sunlight, and both characters are caught at different points of the same sweeping maneuver. Nothing feels static. Painterly digital anime illustration, expressive textured brushwork, cinematic motion frozen in a single frame, extreme wide-angle perspective, dramatic foreshortening, strong diagonals, layered depth, detailed characters, flowing hair and fabric, taut cables, airborne debris, warm sunlight cutting through cool gray ruins, muted military colors with Mikasa's red scarf as the strongest accent, sophisticated composition, subtle graphic design, powerful silhouettes, intense expressions, visceral sense of speed, beautiful atmospheric lighting, energetic, cinematic
