character: power_(chainsaw_man), denji_(chainsaw_man)
Denji and Power sit together on the floor of their cramped, cluttered apartment on an entirely ordinary evening, the low table between them scattered with instant food wrappers, half-eaten bread, and a can of soda, the television glowing blue-white in the corner of the frame though no one is really watching it, the two of them framed off-center toward the left third of the composition so the empty right side of the cramped room — laundry piled in a corner, a single bare bulb overhead — carries just as much visual weight as they do. Power sits cross-legged, mid-laugh, head thrown back, gesturing with a piece of bread in one hand as she brags about something, radiating her usual chaotic, self-satisfied energy. Denji sits slouched beside her, unimpressed, mouth full, barely listening, the exact picture of two roommates on a boring, unremarkable night in. Everything about the lighting, the mess, the posture reads as completely mundane domestic comfort. But on the wall directly behind Power, her shadow does not match her — instead of a laughing girl with her head thrown back, the shadow shows a far larger, motionless silhouette with curved horns and a jagged, fanged grin, its proportions and stillness belonging to nothing currently in the room, cast at an angle that does not correspond to the bare bulb's position above them. Denji's shadow beside it, by contrast, falls perfectly normal and matches his slouched pose exactly. Neither of them reacts to or acknowledges the second shadow in any way, their evening continuing exactly as ordinary as it looks, the wrongness sitting quietly and permanently in that one corner of the wall while the rest of the cramped, lived-in apartment stays completely, believably normal.
