Provisional Identification: Formicavespa confusa Taxonomic Status: Pending investigation. I asked Tsubaki 3 to generate a worker ant. I'm not sure whether the model understands that ants are closely related to wasps and bees, but somehow confused them with the hoverflies that imitate wasps—or whether it simply decided that any random insect would do. The specimen appears to have a fly's enormous eyes, a wasp's striped abdomen, some suspiciously moth-like antennae, and a magnificent pair of wings that a worker ant has absolutely no business possessing. The ant itself remains missing. Further taxonomic investigation is required. Preferably by someone who can explain what this thing is.
