Dozens of monsters controlled by dark magic were advancing toward the city gates. Three fire mages—Kamui Gakupo, Megurine Luka, and 物騒子—stood ready to defend the city against the approaching enemies. "There are more and more of them!" Luka exclaimed, raising her wand as several fireballs formed in the air. "Then let's take them all down at once!" Gakupo replied with a confident smile, spreading his hands to summon an enormous flaming magic circle. 物騒子, however, seemed particularly excited. "Hehehe! It's finally my turn to show off!" She suddenly charged forward, sweeping her right hand through the air. A raging wave of flames instantly engulfed the enemy formation. "Wait! 物騒子! Don't rush too far ahead!" Luka shouted. But 物騒子 wasn't listening. "Relax! These enemies are nothing!" BOOM! She unleashed another enormous fireball, blowing apart an enemy supply wagon. Wooden crates scattered everywhere, and one of them suddenly burst open, releasing a cloud of sparkling magical powder. Gakupo immediately sensed something unusual. "物騒子! There's something wrong with that powder!" "Huh?" Just as 物騒子 turned around, the flames still burning in her hand came into contact with the floating powder. BANG! A cloud of pink magical smoke exploded around her. "UWAAAAH! WHAT IS THIS STUFF?!" Luka quickly summoned a wall of fire to shield herself and Gakupo from the magical blast. "物騒子! Are you alright?" The smoke slowly began to clear. "Cough, cough... I'm fine!" A familiar yet strangely different voice emerged from the smoke. Gakupo froze. Luka blinked in surprise. Standing before them was 物騒子—but somehow, she had transformed into a boy! "...Huh?" 物騒子 looked down at himself, then tried clearing his throat. "Wait! What's wrong with my voice?!" He shouted in disbelief. "I-I TURNED INTO A BOY?!" Luka covered her mouth in surprise before bursting into laughter. "Pfft... I'm sorry, but... 物騒子, you're actually so adorable right now!" "I-I'm NOT adorable!" 物騒子 stomped his foot angrily. Unfortunately for him, his flustered reaction only made Gakupo laugh as well. "Hahaha! I never expected to see you this confused!" "Gakupo! Not you too!" "Sorry, sorry. But it seems your magical power hasn't been affected." Before Gakupo could say anything else, an enraged roar echoed from the distance. While the three had been distracted, the enemy commander had summoned an enormous stone golem and was preparing to smash through the city gates. "This isn't the time to chat!" Luka declared, gripping her wand again. "We need to defeat the enemy first!" "You're right." Gakupo raised his right hand. "物騒子, can you still fight?" "OF COURSE I CAN!" 物騒子 answered indignantly. All three mages began chanting simultaneously. "Flame Burst!" 物騒子 launched the first attack. A massive fireball shot directly toward the golem's chest, blasting several large cracks into its rocky armor. "Crimson Flame Barrage!" Luka followed immediately, waving her wand as dozens of fireballs rained down upon the monster, forcing it backward. Meanwhile, Gakupo raised both hands toward the sky. Flames gathered above him, merging into an enormous sphere of scorching magical energy. "Now, let's finish this battle together!" "Right!" Luka answered with a smile. "Count me in!" 物騒子 shouted, hurrying to stand beside them. Three magic circles lit up simultaneously. "Triple Fire Magic—Infernal Meteor!" BOOOOOOM! Three enormous fireballs converged in midair, transforming into an unstoppable torrent of flames that struck the golem directly. A deafening explosion shook the battlefield. The stone golem finally shattered, and the remaining enemy forces fled in panic. "We did it!" Luka cheered happily. "Excellent teamwork," Gakupo said with a satisfied nod. 物騒子 proudly placed his hands on his hips. "Hehehe! See that?! No matter what I turn into, I'm still the greatest fire mage!" However, watching him try so hard to look impressive, Luka couldn't help giggling again. "Hehe... But you really are adorable right now." Gakupo nodded in agreement. Gakupo suddenly grinned mischievously. "Before you turn back tomorrow, how about we give you a proper title as a male fire mage?" "ABSOLUTELY NOT!" "I think 'Prince of Flames' sounds lovely," Luka suggested with complete seriousness. "LUKA! DON'T ENCOURAGE HIM!" The sun slowly disappeared beyond the distant mountains. The battlefield, which had been engulfed in flames only moments earlier, was now filled with the cheerful laughter and playful arguments of three fire mages. And deep inside, 物騒子 made a solemn promise to himself. Next time, before casting a fireball, he would definitely check whether any suspicious magical powder was nearby. Of course, whether he would actually remember that lesson... Even 物騒子 himself couldn't be entirely sure.
