A single hard low sun from the left throws long shadows to the right: the stone column lays a heavy black wedge across the sand, the wire horse casts a fine, faintly striped shadow that is softer and lighter than the stone's, and every shadow ends in a crisp edge on the flat ground. Strict monochrome: black, white, and a narrow range of mid greys, nothing else admitted. Rock reads as pale grey with black in its crevices, the wire as near-black silhouettes against the pale sky and ground. Gentle distance haze pales the remote stone heads. Quiet, uncanny, and still.
