character: alisa_reinford 1girl, solo, alisa_reinford, long_hair, blonde_hair, red_eyes, hair_ornament, earrings, jewelry, long_sleeves, skirt, thigh_boots, boots, school_uniform, momijigari, autumn leaves, falling leaves, maple leaf, autumn foliage effect, swirling leaves, outdoors, from below, low angle, cowboy shot, looking up, outstretched arm, open hand, catching leaf, light smile, closed mouth, standing on one leg, tiptoes, head tilt, wind, backlight, lens flare through leaves, dappled light The camera sits low among the roots of a Japanese maple and looks up: a slight from-below angle in a cowboy shot, so the girl's full body from mid-thigh to the crown of her head is framed against a canopy of red and orange maple leaves, and the sky beyond is a pale washed autumn white. She is caught in the middle of 紅葉狩り — autumn leaf viewing — on tiptoe, balanced on her left foot with her right toe just off the ground, her body tilted and her left arm stretched up and out toward the low-hanging branch above her right shoulder, palm open, fingers spread, a single scarlet maple leaf settling into her cupped hand. Her right hand is drawn in against her chest, gripping the strap of a small bag at her hip. Her head tips back and to the left, chin raised, and her red eyes follow the falling leaf down into her open palm rather than the viewer — her lips are closed in a faint, absorbed smile, one brow slightly lifted. She has long blonde hair that the wind has caught: strands lift and stream sideways to her right, a few fine hairs crossing her face, and the hair ornament sits at the side of her head where the swept-back locks are pinned. She wears her long-sleeved school uniform — a dark tailored jacket with pale trim and a pleated skirt — and tall thigh-high boots that reach up her legs; small earrings glint at her earlobes beneath the lifted hair, and a fine necklace lies at her collar. The whole frame is saturated with the autumn leaf effect: maple leaves in crimson, vermilion and amber fall everywhere around her, some large and close to the lens and blurred soft, some small and sharp near her face and hand, a few spinning edge-on, and a dense loose drift of them collecting on the ground below her feet and along the exposed roots. The canopy overhead forms a broken ceiling of red foliage. A low sun sits behind and to the upper left, so the leaves between the sun and the camera glow translucent and veined, and the light breaks through in shifting dappled patches across her cheek, her shoulder and the front ofher jacket, while the undersides of the leaves and the folds of her skirt fall into warm shadow. The physics of the moment is in the leaves: each one cants and turns as it falls, catching the backlight only on its lit face and going dark on the reverse, so the whole air is full of small flashing turns. Palette is deep crimson, vermilion, amber and gold against the cool dark of her uniform and the pale blonde of her hair, nothing else admitted. Shallow depth of field keeps her sharp and lets the near leaves bloom out of focus. Warm, nostalgic, quietly delighted.
