狸とアライグマ

よく混同される動物。狸の尻尾に縞は無いのですが、イラストでは縞が描かれてますね。最近「逃げ若」2期で、貞宗が「なかなか尻尾を出さぬわ」と同時に時行は縞模様の尻尾を振っています。もし、狸をイメージしてたのならアウト、化け猫なら可能性有りです。まぁ、作中での時行の渾名は「戦闘力が兎並み」ですけどね。

It has turned its head slightly down to meet the tanuki's lower eye line, one forepaw raised an inch off the ground and held there, claws spread, the other gripping the roots of a fallen twig that bends under the pressure. Its mouth is open on a hiss, whiskers fanned forward, ears canted back, eyes fixed on the tanuki's bared teeth. Between their faces a hand's width of empty air is the only thing separating them; neither has crossed it. They stand on a forest floor of wet brown leaf litter, mossy roots and scattered acorns, the ground dark and waterlogged where their paws press shallow prints into it. Behind them the forest rears up in depth: two black trunks frame the outer edges of the picture, the midground is a wall of undergrowth and ferns at their own height, and the background dissolves into layered grey-green trunks, hanging vines and drifting haze, so the two animals read as the only clear shapes in a tall dim corridor of trees. Light comes from behind and above the canopy, broken into shafts; it catches the raised crest of the raccoon's grey fur and the ridge of the tanuki's brown back as a rim of pale gold, leaves their faces and chests in cool shadow, and throws spiked shadows of fern and branch across the litter in front of them. A few motes of dust and seed drift in a shaft between their heads, and the damp ground darkens where their breath falls. The palette is dark chocolate brown, charcoal grey, moss green and wet-earth black, warmed only by the canopies' gold. Tense, held-breath standoff.
