She stands with her weight sunk into her left hip, right knee slightly bent, torso twisted three-quarters toward the lens, and her right hand hooked loosely around the bolter's grip so the massive weapon lies back across her right shoulder pauldron, its barrel angled up and behind her head; the muzzle is still faintly smoking. Her left arm hangs relaxed at her side, fingers loosely curled. Her chin is tipped down so she looks straight down the barrel-line at the viewer, grin split wide, upper teeth showing, one brow cocked, eyes wide and shining with a manic edge. Her short blonde hair is swept back with a few strands whipping across her cheek; her pointed ears stand clear. Blood — dark, wet, half-dried — streaks across her right cheek, spatters the white-and-gold enamel of her chestplate and pauldrons, and dries in a crust along the seam of her gauntlet. Behind and below her, the battlefield opens: the Hyrule plain rolling back in scorched grass and broken bodies, rivers of fire and columns of black smoke, and in the far background the silhouetted towers and spires of Hyrule Castle, a third of it burning, its flags torn. Midground, small but legible, a huge red-haired, dark-skinned, bearded figure with pointed ears and yellow-red eyes swings a bolter up, muzzle flashing, while bulky blond pointed-eared beast-warriors with braided hair and leather straps charge beside him; opposing them, a knot of heavy armored space marines return bolter fire, tracers and muzzle flashes stitching the smoke. Explosions bloom as orange fireballs and flying rubble, casting orange rim light across Zelda's armor's edges from behind and below, while cool blue-gray fills the shadows, ash drifting down like snow. Warm orange and red firelight versus cold steel-blue and smoke-gray, blood-red accents on her armor, the sky bruised purple-black. The armor reads scratched and dented, the firelight catching highlights on every polished plate, the smoke smearing soft at the horizon. Chaotic, maniacal.
