She stands on one leg, her full weight on the right foot, left knee bent and left toe pointed down and slightly behind, the frilled hem of the highleg leotard riding up over the hip. Her right hand grips the staff at chest height, fingers wrapped, the shaft leaning against her palm; her left arm is flung out and up, hand open, palm turned to the sky. Her head tips to her right shoulder; her long brown-black hair, tied in a folded ponytail high at the back with a blue ribbon, swings out and up past her jaw in a single arc, the swept bangs raked across her forehead from her left to her right, and the small hairclip bites the hair above her left temple. Her brown eyes are wide and round in the tareme shape, the outer corners drooping, catching the light; her cheeks are flushed, and she is smiling open-mouthed, mid-laugh, her gaze directly on the viewer. Her outfit is a magical girl costume built on a highleg leotard with a deep sailor collar spread open across her shoulders — the bare collarbones exposed above the V of the collar, the white front panel covering the navel so no skin shows at the stomach, and the high cut of the leotard leaving her hips and upper thighs bare. White frills line the collar edge, the arm openings and the hem, and a large white bow sits at the center of the chest, tied at the base of the choker. A narrow frilled choker circles her throat, its ruffled edge tucked under the curve of her jaw. Her legs are in white kneehigh socks with ruffled cuffs at the top, and white shoes with a small heel at the feet; the socks press a faint crease into her calves where they are pulled tight. The setting is an empty night sky seen from below, a deep blue field scattered with stars, with no ground visible except a dark, softly blurred curve beneath her shoes. The staff is the only light source: it glows a pale cold white, and the light climbs the underside of her chin and collarbones, catches the top edge of the sailor collar and the bow, streaks down the staff and leaves everything on the far side of her body in shadow. The staff's glow edges her hair along the rim of her ponytail, and the stars are faint, cool pinpoints beyond it. The palette is limited to deep blue, white, pale skin tones and the warm brown of her hair and eyes. Airy, luminous, joyful.
