The window's surviving glass still glows from behind with deep violet, crimson and gold figures, and those colours spill in dim patches on the floor tiles at her feet. Out of her back and shoulders the dark aura leaks upward like smoke poured from a low source, thickest at the base of her spine and thinning as it climbs; within it, black gleams hurl in fast arcs around her head and arms, thin sharp crescents of darkness that leave faint trails and briefly occlude the throne's crown and one gargoyle's wing as they pass. Above the window, beyond the broken panes and inside the vault, five black elemental bats fly with membrane wings spread, their silhouettes crossing the moon's disc so that one is a clean black notch against the white. The aura's smoke curls sideways toward the window as if drawn to the moonlight, a single direction of drift. Ominous, regally composed.
