More to See

expressive brushstrokes, digital art, dry bristle brush texture, high-contrast glow, airbrushed soft shading, gritty canvas texture, loose semi-realistic rendering technique, soft iridescent gradient, glare and light particles, semi-realistic, textured paint layering, delicate lines, impasto brushwork, smooth shading, glowing highlights, muted chromatic tones, subtle vivid accents, cinematic grain, sparkling irises, dreamlike atmosphere, beautiful light, best shadow, color blink, SEMI-REALISTIC PAINTERLY ANIME — ABANDONED CARNIVAL PORTRAIT, "CAROUSEL OF SPIRITS" STYLE & CAMERA: semi-realistic painterly anime illustration, soft visible brushwork over finely detailed rendering, cinematic composition, medium close-up framed from the hips up as she sits on the carousel horse, slight low angle looking up at her from the carousel platform, shallow depth of field with her reaching hand and the horse's head in crisp focus, high-contrast chiaroscuro look. CHARACTER LOOK: a young gorgeous slender woman in her early twenties. Long midnight-teal hair falling loose past her waist, two thin braids drawn back from her temples and pinned with tarnished gold star pins, the rest drifting like it has forgotten wind exists. Large molten-gold eyes, glowing faintly like the carnival bulbs, looking down at the viewer with a slow, patient smile. Fair skin with the smooth glazed finish of porcelain doll, soft painterly texture, so even it seems painted, faint rose at the lips and cheeks. OUTFIT: a ghostly ringmaster's ensemble. A fitted black velvet tailcoat with a stiff high collar, crimson-lined lapels, gold braid frogging across the chest, small gold epaulettes and two rows of brass buttons, the coat hem fluttering past her hips. Underneath a cream satin waistcoat embroidered with tiny gold stars, a gilt pocket-watch chain draped across it. A short A-line skirt of black satin beneath a sheer organza layer embroidered with gold constellations, with a gold star garter at her thigh. Sheer black stockings, knee-high heeled lace-up boots in black leather with brass buckles. A short crescent-shouldered cape of dusty teal printed with pale stars, a black top hat tilted at an angle wrapped in a tattered gold band with a small gilt crescent moon pinned to it. A gold star choker at her throat, mismatched gold star drop earrings, several thin gold rings, nails lacquered cream. POSE & GESTURE: seated side-saddle on the carousel horse, spine elegant and still, one leg bent along the saddle. Her other hand reaches straight down toward the viewer standing on the carousel platform, palm open, fingers relaxed in an unhurried invitation; her free hand rests on the horse's painted neck. Head tilted, gaze lowered to meet the viewer's eyes over her own extended hand — a hostess welcoming her last guest of the night. PROP: the ghostly carousel horse beneath her, mounted on the carousel's rotating wooden platform — bone-white with cream and gilt paint peeling in curls, dead glass eyes catching the bulb-light, a tarnished gold saddle and bridle set with cracked faded gems, hairline cracks running through its porcelain-like surface, a thin wisp of spectral glow rising from its mane, fixed to a gilded brass pole running up into the canopy that glows faintly where her hand rests. BACKGROUND: the scene takes place entirely inside the carousel, on its worn wooden platform. Overhead, the carousel canopy and ceiling with painted panels of faded cherubs and moons peeling from the wood, a central mirrored column with cracked mirror panels and gilded trim, rows of other ghostly carousel horses on brass poles waiting in shadow on either side, strings of dim warm bulbs lining the canopy rim with half the lights burnt out, torn striped fabric hanging from the rafters, scattered paper tickets and old cotton-candy sticks on the platform floor, a few crows roosting on the rafters. Between the carousel's pillars and through the open sides, the abandoned fairground is visible in the distance: dead trees, a shattered-glass ticket booth, thick fog rolling over the ground, and a huge ferris wheel silhouetted against a giant low orange moon. LIGHTING: warm dim gold from the strings of bulbs overhead pooling down across her hat, reaching hand and the horse's back; the giant orange moon burning through fog between the pillars behind her as a huge soft backlight; cool teal shadow filling the carousel interior and fairground; the horse's spectral glow shimmering faintly around its mane and pole; volumetric fog drifting across the platform, dust and drifting feathers, deep cinematic shadows, extreme contrast. COLOR PALETTE: burnt orange and bulb gold against teal-black night, cream satin and tarnished gilt, faded carnaval red on the coat's lining, spectral pale glow around the horse. MOOD: melancholy enchantment — a fairground dead for decades that runs for one night only, and a ringmaster whose invitation feels like the sweetest mistake you will ever make; once you take her hand, the ride does not stop.
