1boy, solo, sweet potato motif, purple oversized chunky knit sweater, cream turtleneck, baggy ochre-brown trousers, rounded brown leather boots, fluffy light purple hair, sweet potato plush accessory at collar, sweet potato stitch pattern on sweater, warm ochre and purple palette, from above, looking up, head tilt, crouching, knees bent, holding sweet potato, both hands, arms wrapped around, wide sleeves, oversized knit texture, cable knit, ribbed cuffs, cable knit stretched at elbows, sitting on heels, tiptoes, open mouth, :d, closed eyes, blush, from above, dutch angle, warm afternoon light, dry grass, fallen leaves, close-up, cowboy shot, The camera looks down from above at a steep, slightly tilted dutch angle onto one small boy crouched in a patch of dry late-autumn grass, his weight sunk back onto his heels with both knees drawn up and his rounded brown leather boots planted flat, the ochre-brown of the baggy trousers bunching in deep folds at the knee. His fluffy light purple hair falls forward off his forehead as his head tilts up and back, so the crown of his head and the sweep of his bangs catch the warm low sun, and his eyes squeeze shut in a delighted crescent while his mouth opens wide in a bright open-mouthed grin, chin lifted, the whole face aimed up past the lens toward the sky. A fat sweet potato, dusty purple-red skin and one knobby end, rests in the cradle of both his arms; the wide sleeves of the deep purple chunky knit sweater swallow his forearms up to the knuckles, and the cream turtleneck rises soft and thick against his jaw, the ribbed collar folded once. Where the sweater stretches across his drawn-up knees the cable knit opens into wider stitches, the wool pale where the yarn is pulled taut over the bone, and a small plush sweet potato hangs clipped at his collar, dangling free of the knit and swinging slightly forward under the tilt of his shoulders. His hands are curled under the vegetable, palms turned up, the wool of the cuffs pressing into the sweet potato's skin so the fabric dents softly around it. Across the chest and upper sleeve of the sweater runs a band of fair-isle patterning in cream and ochre, rows of little sweet potato shapes linked vine to vine, the pattern curving with the barrel of the oversized body and bending at the shoulder seam. The sunlight comes from the upper left, warm and low, striking the top of his head, the tops of his sleeves and the upper curve of the held sweet potato, while his face and the underside of the vegetable fall into a softer warm shade lit only by bounce off the pale dry grass; a short, dense shadow pools under his heels and behind the sweet potato onto his own sweater. Everything else is dry grass, scattered rust and amber fallen leaves, a few of them resting on the upward-facing surfaces of the ground and none on the undersides. Palette held to deep purple, cream, ochre-brown and the dusty red-purple of the sweet potato skin, with no other hue admitted; the grass stays a muted straw. Detail spends itself on the knit gauge, the plush at the collar and the boy's upturned face, and the background softens into a shallow band of warm blur. tender, playful.
