Two completely separate ramen bowls sit on the table, one directly in front of Ranma on the left and the other directly in front of the panda on the right, with a clearly visible gap between the bowls. Ranma kneels/sits low at the table's near-left corner, torso pitched forward over her own huge bowl, left elbow planted on the tabletop, right hand driving the chopsticks up and back toward her mouth so a long bundle of noodles rises high, a single continuous strand swinging from the chopsticks in a loose arc down into her open mouth. Every noodle strand Ranma lifts comes exclusively from her own bowl. Her cheeks are puffed with the noodles already inside, jaw working, brows drawn down, eyes locked on the noodles and nothing else, the corners of her lips pulled back in a fierce competitive snarl of effort. Her single braid swings behind her shoulder with the forward lunge, the tail of it lifted by her motion, and the loose collar of her red Chinese shirt is caught in the same movement. Opposite her, the giant black and white panda sits heavily cross-legged, looming half a head above her even seated, its huge rounded body hunched over the table. A separate enormous ramen bowl sits directly in front of the panda, clearly apart from Ranma's bowl. Both front paws clamp the sides of its own ramen bowl and hug it to its chest, while one set of chopsticks is worked at the corner of its mouth with a bundle of noodles going in; a second long strand stretches taut and glistening from its own bowl to its muzzle, pulled sideways by the slurp. Every noodle strand the panda lifts comes exclusively from its own bowl. Its black eye patches are angled hard toward the food, the small eyes narrowed to fierce slits beneath a furrowed brow, droplets of broth clinging to the whiskers, its whole face an expression of grim, stubborn seriousness. Its ears stay low and flat with concentration, and one hind paw is braced against the floorboards, taking its weight as it leans further in. The contact points read clearly: both figures' forearms and elbows press down onto the tabletop, chopsticks pinched between fingers and paw-pads, each contestant gripping their own separate bowl, the two bowls positioned apart with a clear visible gap between them, steam curling up and breaking around their faces, empty bowls stacked three and four high at the table's edges beside scattered small dishes, soy-sauce bottles and a chopstick rest. Under the table a sliver of floor is visible, and where each bowl sits a faint ring of moisture has been left on the wood. Environment: a traditional Japanese ramen shop interior -- a dark wooden counter behind them with bottles lined in a row, a steam-fogged window, a hanging noren curtain with illegible brush lettering, small paper lanterns, a wall shelf of stacked bowls; the background simplified into broad shapes and flat planes so the two contestants stay the focus. The light is a single warm overhead hanging lamp plus the warmer glow of the kitchen behind the counter, falling from above-left so their faces catch the light while their backs and the underside of the table sit in warm brown shadow; the steam is lit from above, brightest where it is thinnest, and every noodle strand catches a hard white highlight along its upper edge. Colour: a warm brown-and-amber shop interior against the sharper red of Ranma's shirt and the clean black-white of the panda, plus the gold of the broth and the pale cream of the noodles -- the noodles and the steam are the brightest values in the frame, everything else subordinate. Classic 1990s TV anime cel animation: crisp hand-inked outlines, flat cel fill, simple two-tone cel shading with hard terminator lines, painted background in soft opaque gouache, no gradients on the characters, no digital airbrush. Feverishly funny, high-energy.
