Greninja fills the center, tall and lean and blue-skinned, shoulders squared, weight settled back on both heels as if bracing, his wide flat head tipped down toward the two smaller figures at his sides; a thick pale-pink tongue lies wound loosely around his neck, and both webbed hands hang open at his hips with the fingers spread, caught between stopping them and letting go. His eyes are half-lidded, one closed outright in a long-suffering wince, the other flicked down toward Meloetta with the bright pupil wide and his mouth pulled into a lopsided grimace, the whole blue face flushed darker where warmth rises at his cheeks. On his left, Meloetta presses against his forearm at chest height: she has green hair spilling long and unbound over her shoulders, a smooth pale-cream upper half that flushes to deep black across her arms and legs, and blue eyes shining up at his jaw; both her gloved hands crook around his elbow with her fingers locked over the top of his wrist, one thin leg hooked up and behind her other knee so she balances on one foot, hanging all her weight on his arm and leaning her head into it. She wears a fur-collared red-and-white winter coat, a red knit scarf looped twice around her throat, a soft red santa hat with its pom slumping backward, and white mittens. On his right, Sash Lilac holds his other arm with both hands clasped lightly around his wrist and forearm, her own shoulders lifted square and proud: long purple hair dusted with fresh flakes, animal ears perked upright and one ear angled forward, green eyes wide and bright toward his face, a short blue-furred tail tucked out behind her quilted blue snow-pants. She wears an ice-white parka with a faux-fur hood pushed down around her neck, teal earmuffs over her ears, and teal knit mittens, and her mouth is open in a happy laugh with her head tilted to his right as she rolls up onto her toes. Snow settles on the tops of both girls' hats and earmuffs, on Greninja's head and the outward curves of his shoulders, and on nothing underneath; their three sets of breath plume out white and fade into the falling flakes. Behind them, a lamp-strung pine fills the right background with warm amber bulbs scattering halos through the snow, a small evergreen wreath hangs on a wooden storefront at left with its lettering worn illegible, and the pavement's trodden slush catches a blue reflection of the cold sky in the ruts while the warm shop glow lies in a thin line along the snowbank edges. The lamp on the right is the main warm source, throwing amber up the right sides of all three faces, and the night sky is a hard cool blue on their left; a soft elongated shadow from each figure reaches toward the lower-left of the frame. Palette holds to deep winter blue and violet, warm lamp amber, and the red and teal of the two winter outfits against Greninja's blue skin. Tender, teasing warmth.
