character: flandre_scarlet, artist: kuroboshi_kouhaku, tsunako, copyright: touhou 1girl, solo, upper body, head out of frame, face partly cropped, mouth visible, reaching towards viewer, outstretched arm, hand reaching for viewer, palm open, fingers spread, looking at viewer, head tilt, slit pupils, red eyes, blonde hair, long hair, side ponytail, red bow, colorful crystal wings, crystal wings, multicolored wings, rainbow wings, madness, insane expression, grin, wide-eyed, parted lips, teeth visible, dark background, dominant red and black palette, from below, foreshortening, dutch angle, dramatic angle, floating crystal shards, glowing particles, light particles, mobile game art style, glossy eyes, soft shading The camera sits low and slightly off-axis, tilted a few degrees off level, looking up into the frame from below and close in, so the composition is a tight upper-body crop in which the top edge of the picture cuts cleanly across the middle of the girl's face: only the lower half of her head survives inside the frame -- the small pointed chin, the mouth, one cheek -- while the eyes and the whole crown of the head stay above the boundary line and out of the image. Her head is tilted steeply over toward her left shoulder and carried forward, the neck stretched on a diagonal, so that the one cheek that remains visible is pressed almost against the top edge and the jaw line runs down toward her shoulder. From below her chin the whole upper body is present and prominent: a shallow chest, narrow shoulders hunched inward, a creased short-sleeved puff-sleeved shirt under a small vest, a ribbon at the collar, frilled edges at the sleeves, the costume detail picked out in crisp thin lines. Her right shoulder drops lower than the left and her weight rides that side; her right arm drives up and forward out of the picture plane, foreshortened hard, the forearm coming almost straight at the lens, the wrist bent back, the hand opened wide with fingers splayed and slightly hooked, the palm catching the light, so that the hand is huge and near and the shoulder far and small behind it. The left arm is pulled in across her ribs, elbow tucked, hand half-curled near her chest, fingers gripping the fabric of her own sleeve. The head tilt aims the visible cheek and mouth down toward the viewer rather than away, chin dropped, and the nasal crease and nostril wing are just visible under the crop. Out of her back, behind the shoulders, a spread of crystal wings flares wide and fills the corners on both sides -- many faceted shards in rainbow glass, red, orange, gold, green, blue and violet, each prism-branched and translucent, opening in an uneven, ragged fan rather than a tidy symmetry, some tips crossing over the frame edge, others dipping behind her shoulder. Her blonde hair falls in long strands down past the crop line in front of one shoulder and streams back in a side ponytail behind the other, lifted and fanned as if by an updraft from below, the red bow at the ponytail's base pulling taut. The hard foreshortening makes the near hand biggest, the face edge huge, the shoulders small and distant -- a stretched, top-heavy, unbalanced layout. The lighting is inverted and dramatic: one cold violet-white key strikes from below left, hard, throwing the splay of her near fingers into bright relief, lighting the underside of her jaw and the wet shine of her lower lip, and hitting the crystal wings so they scatter their own colored light in small caustic flecks across her chest and cheeks; a faint warm rim leaks from behind her shoulder and through the wings. Everything beyond the lit planes collapses into black -- the ground of the picture is absolute darkness, so dark the wings' far edges dissolve into it, and the only brightness in the frame is her skin, her hair and the glass shards. Colored beams refract through the crystal tips, sharp little periwinkle and crimson and amber spectrums, brightest where the key passes closest to the shards. Her mouth is what the crop leaves to do the acting: it is stretched in a wide, wrong grin, one corner jerked up higher than the other, lips peeled back from her teeth, a breath catching between them. The head tilt and the hand reaching out of the frame push toward the viewer and the grin pulls him in, so the whole lower face and the near hand together feel like they are arriving too fast. The color discipline is red, blonde and black with only the crystal wings admitting full spectrum -- red in her bow, her eyes' slit-pupiled irises and the thin lining at the collar; blonde in the hair; black swallowing everything else. Fine delicate linework over soft cel-shading, smooth airbrushed gradients across the skin, glossy highlights in the eye sliver and on the lower lip, intricate fabric folds and mechanistic crystal facets, floating dust and glass glints hanging in the dark air, deep layered depth from the near hand back to the dark, dusky vintage grade desaturating the shadows while the wings and the grin stay saturated. Vivid, unsettling, vertiginous.
