Behind her is one flat bone-white spotlight disc, like a full moon, and she hangs inside its circle. Her body fills most of the height of the canvas, her head is large in the upper third, her lower legs and feet dangle loose in the air, touching nothing, toes pointed down. Many thin deep-red strings run from out of the top of the frame down to her body — to the top of her head, her elbows, her wrists, her knees. At the very top edge, cropped by the frame, a dark wooden marionette control bar is partly visible. The strings are the ONLY saturated colour in the whole image, and several strings pass in FRONT of her, crossing over her face and in front of the picture plane, between her and the viewer. Faint joint seams are drawn at her neck, elbows, wrists and knees, like a wooden doll. Original character: very pale skin, long black hair in two low twin tails tied with black ribbons, glassy doll-like eyes with heavy lashes and a still, unblinking, deadpan gaze straight at the viewer. She wears a white blouse under a black pinafore dress, striped black-and-white socks, black mary jane shoes. Her head tilts slightly to one side, loose, like a doll whose neck string is slack. In her raised right hand she holds a pair of open silver scissors, and she is pressing the blades against the red string attached to that same wrist — about to cut it. Her expression does not change at all. One idea only: the puppet cutting her own string. Typography: behind her, huge hand-painted bone-white capital letters reading "NO STRINGS", rough dry-brushed, slightly scratched and uneven, filling the width of the canvas. Her head hides the middle of the lettering, and the red strings cross over the letters, over her body and over everything, so text, strings and girl are stacked in layers. The letters are bone white, never red. No other text anywhere. Negative: no puppeteer, no hands from above, no stage, no theatre, no curtains, no floor, no audience, no other dolls, no smiling, no dancing pose, no colourful strings, no blue or gold strings, no tangled mess of strings, no horror gore, no cracked face, no broken doll parts, no glossy shine, no plastic skin, no smooth airbrush gradients, no glossy CG render, no logo, no watermark, no clean digital font, no other words, no red letters
