Her face is tipped to one side in a head tilt, lashes long and dark over half-lidded blue eyes that angle up to meet the viewer's gaze directly, a lopsided smirk pulling one corner of her mouth, a warm blush spread across both cheeks. She stands straight in the center of a lived-in living room, weight settled on one hip in a contrapposto line, one knee crossing slightly inward while her feet stay planted apart at a wide stance, arms tucked behind her back so her shoulders draw back and her bare arms and shoulders are fully exposed, the sleeveless fitted qipao of the Chinese dress hugging her narrow waist and flaring over her hips before cutting short above her bare legs, the fabric a deep red with a fine floral brocade and a high collar; the hem falls in a soft diagonal across her thighs from the weight shift, and her bare feet rest flat on a woven rug, each toe articulated and flushed pink at the tips. A kimono of pale cream fabric with a wide embroidered obi hangs draped over the back of the couch behind her, sleeves spilling down the cushions, its belt loosely tied. The living room opens around her: a low wooden coffee table in the near foreground with a single teacup on it, a couch to the left with the kimono draped across it, a warm paper-shaded floor lamp in the upper right, a window behind with sheer curtains letting in a shaft of afternoon sun that stripes across the rug and catches the tops of her feet and the shine of her shins, the light falling from screen right so her shadow stretches long to the left across the floorboards and the rug's weave. Warm palette of reds, oranges and pale wood, the light's shadow dividing the room into a bright rug and a dim under-couch gloom, the teacup's shadow shorter than the cup itself. Playful, mischievous.
