The chamber is huge and dark: massive smooth sandstone blocks, columns half lost in shadow, shallow sunk-relief hieroglyphs running up a wall behind her, a cracked floor slab far below. One cold shaft of pale blue light falls from a high unseen opening behind her, rimming her ears, shoulders and the chains and throwing her front into deep shadow; the dark sparks are the only warm-toned light, an ugly purplish-red, and they catch in the hollows of her collar and the underside of the muzzle. Everything beyond that is absolute darkness. Palette of cold blue-grey stone, black iron, white linen and gold, against the violet-red of the burning chains. Eerie, ceremonial dread.
