More to See

1girl, solo, small round creature girl, chibi proportions, wide-eyed panic, open mouth, screaming, flailing arms, rolling, tumbling, mid-air tumble, upside-down, rotation, sand spray, dust cloud, speech bubble, white speech bubble with jagged tail, high desert, desert, sand dunes, mesa, cliff edge, arid sky, from below, wide shot, tilted horizon, dynamic angle, motion lines, manga effects, screentone shading, impact lines, full-colour illustration, warm ochre palette, harsh noon sun The frame opens on a wide, low-angle view tilted some fifteen degrees off level, looking up past a small round creature girl as she rolls and tumbles head over heels in mid-air above the crest of a high desert dune, her whole body a compact ball of motion. She is seen from below and slightly behind, so the soles of her feet and the flailing backs of her hands turn toward the lens, her round head tipped back and upside-down in the tumble, eyes wide with open-mouthed alarm at the empty sky and the drop. Her short skirt and loose sleeves stream outward in the centrifugal fling of the spin, sand still shedding from her hair and clothes. She is directly above a dune crest of dry ochre sand, not touching it, a ragged fan of already-loosed grains hanging in the air beneath her heels, and the spray throws a soft dust cloud around her silhouette. Beyond and behind her, layered high-desert mesas and distant ridgelines recede in hazy warm tones under a bleached, cloudless noon sky, and the dune's slip-face falls away steeply to one side so the height reads at once. The sun is high and single, striking down on the upward-facing surfaces — her face, shoulders, the crest of the dune — while the shadowed undersides of her tumbling figure and the lee of the dune fall into hard warm shadow; the sand directly under her throws a small scattered shadow onto the slope below. A white speech bubble with a jagged tail points at her open mouth above her head, its balloon edge crisp against the sky, and inside it in bold hand-lettered rounded characters it reads "わー〜助けて〜", set on two stacked lines with the second line larger in her panic. The palette is ochre, burnt sienna, pale rope-coloured sand and a bleached bone-white sky, everything warm and dry and high. Sheer vertigo, comic panic.
