The Bleeding Rose Under the Blue Moon

I'm completely captivated by the surreal beauty of this scene, where a vibrant red rose seems to weep under the gaze of a massive, glowing blue moon. There's something so hauntingly romantic about the way the crimson drop connects the flower to the sky, making me feel a deep sense of quiet melancholy. If this atmosphere resonates with you, please leave a like and follow for more dreamlike art, and let me know your thoughts in the comments!

The only light in the world is that moon: it floods the plain in cool blue-green, lays a soft rim along each ripple of grass, and throws the grass blades into long fine shadows that all point the same way, away from the moon; the sky around it graduates from deep indigo at the top to a bruised teal at the horizon, empty of other light, with the darkness beyond the moon's halo absolute. In the near foreground, standing alone and upright on a single straight stem among the bowed grass, is one white rose, its petals open and faintly luminous in the moonlight, sheened a cold blue-white where the light catches every curled edge. The moon's lower edge swells, and a single crimson drop beads there, gathering heavy and glossy, then falls: it hangs beneath the moon on a thin unbroken thread of red, elongated by its fall, catching a bright pinpoint highlight, and a fine red mist trails up from the strand where it has already torn free. Half the rose has already been painted: the left half of every petal is soaked a deep wet crimson that is darkest where it pools at the petal bases and glossy where it runs down the veins, the red-white boundary cutting down the rose's centre in an irregular wet line, one crimson bead hanging from the lowest stained petal and a single drip gathering at the tip of a leaf. The falling drop is the one warm thing in the frame, the sole red on the moon's side of the picture, and the rose's stained half answers it from below. Cool blue-green field, blue moon and its silver halo, white petals, and that one crimson accent, and nothing else in the palette. Composition is a vertical: moon high centre, drop on the centre line descending toward the small white-red rose low in the foreground so that the eye follows the drop straight down to it. Still, eerie, beautiful.
