Mito sits on the left, her long black hair falling in a heavy sheet over the couch back, the small bow and hairclip near her crown catching the light, her black jacket open over a pale shirt and dark bowtie, her long skirt pooled across the cushion; she leans her whole upper body sideways into Ririmu, weight tipped onto her right hip, one arm looped around Ririmu's waist inside the open pink jacket, the other hand braced flat on the cushion behind Ririmu's far shoulder, her face tipped down and in so that her nose presses just under Ririmu's jaw at the side of her neck, her lips parted a little, her eyes shut and her brow smoothed in concentration as she draws the scent in. Her animal ears tilt forward toward Ririmu's hair. Ririmu sits on the right, crowded against the sofa's armrest, her long two-tone pink and grey hair with streaked inner color and blunt bangs swinging forward over one shoulder, the hair ribbon at the back of her head half crushed against the cushion; her pink jacket hangs open over the frilled dress, the long sleeves pulled down past her wrists, and both her hands are clenched in the fabric of her own skirt on her lap, knuckles pale, the cloth twisted tight. Her shoulders are drawn up and rigid, her back held straight against the armrest, and her chin is lifted and turned slightly away from Mito with her mouth open in a small flustered "o", her cheeks flooded deep red all the way to the tips of her ears, a bead of sweat running from her temple down past her jaw. Her eyes are wide and dart sideways and down at Mito's hair, half-lidded and helpless, and her breath visibly catches. A soft haze of steam lifts off Ririmu's face, throat and shoulders in thin curling ribbons that drift upward and to the right, warping the edge of the dressing-room mirror behind her; where the steam passes in front of the mirror's glass its reflection goes soft and milky, and the warm air has fogged a faint oval on the mirror's lower corner. The room behind them is a backstage greenroom: a long bulb-lit vanity mirror along the back wall with a row of round warm bulbs, a garment rail of hangers and a folded towel on a chair, all rendered as simple midground shapes. The vanity bulbs are the key light, warm amber, striking the two women from behind and above so a rim of light outlines Mito's black hair and Ririmu's pink crown, their faces falling into a softer warm fill from a small lamp at frame left; shadows sit deep under the sofa and behind their shoulders. Palette: cream sofa and vanity bulbs, Mito's black and white and deep bowtie black against Ririmu's pink and grey hair and pink jacket, with the hot red of Ririmu's blush as the single hottest note in the frame. Intimate, flustered.
