More to See

1boy, solo, adult man, mid-30s, short hair, messy hair, reddish-orange hair, brown eyes, black shirt, long sleeves, gold buttons, two gold buttons on left side of shirt, gold trim, black shorts, gold-trimmed black cloth hanging at left hip, bamboo sandals, gold earrings, exclamation-mark-shaped earrings, long earrings, walking, mid-stride, from front, full body, looking ahead, small Japanese village, gigantic sakura tree, mountain-sized sakura tree, cherry blossoms, petals falling, daylight, distant mountains A front-facing full-body view of a lone man in his mid-thirties walking toward the camera through a narrow lane of a small Japanese village, caught in the middle of a stride: his weight rolls onto the forward foot while the rear heel lifts off its bamboo sandal, the toes gripping the sole, and his shorts and the gold-lined black cloth at his left hip swing a half-beat behind the step. Short, messy reddish-orange hair lifts and separates at the crown with the motion, strands crossing the gold hoops; his brown eyes look level down the lane, past the camera rather than into it, with a relaxed brow and mouth slightly parted in easy mid-walk breathing. The black long-sleeve shirt pulls taut at the front shoulder, its sleeves loose at the wrists, two gold buttons set in a vertical pair on the left side of his chest above the other small gold accents catching the light as single bright pinpoints; from each earlobe hangs a long gold earring shaped like an exclamation mark, the straight shaft dropping to a round dot at the tip, both swinging slightly out of phase with his step. Bare shins below the black shorts, feet strapped into split-toe bamboo sandals that clack flat on the packed earth. He walks a lane of low wooden houses with tiled and thatched roofs, lattice fronts, paper lanterns and potted plants tucked against the walls; the houses step smaller into the distance and the lane narrows to a vanishing point at his back. Behind and above the rooftops, filling the whole upper half of the frame and dwarfing the village, a single sakura tree rises to mountain scale, its trunk wider than any house and its pink canopy banked in enormous layered masses whose edges fade into haze, so the village roofs read as pebbles beneath it; a shoulder of real mountain shows beyond and below the canopy, smaller than the tree. Petals drift across the lane in depth, larger and softer near the lens, tiny flecks far off, and a few settle on his shoulders, on the rim of the bamboo sandals and on upward-facing roof tiles, never on the undersides. Low afternoon sun comes in from the left of frame, warm and slightly hazy, lighting the left side of his face, arm and shirt while the right side falls into soft shadow; the lane's packed earth throws his long shadow to the right, and the great tree's shadow lies as a broad dim band across the far rooftops. The palette is black, warm skin and gold on the figure, warm wood and earth in the lane, and a dominant soft pink of blossoms against a pale washed sky. Even, deliberate detail on the face, hands and outfit trims; the distant village kept simple but not flat. Serene, sun-warmed.
