More to See

character: kagamine_len 1boy, solo, kagamine len, blonde hair, short hair, blue eyes, hair between eyes, white shirt, long sleeves, shorts, head sticking out of a barrel, inside barrel, only head and shoulders visible, arms hidden inside barrel, floating, adrift at sea, ocean, drifting, calm waves, from above, high angle, looking up, head tilted back, half-closed eyes, light smile, tired smile, day, sea horizon, one figure, seen from a high angle looking down at the water: a single boy's head and the tops of his shoulders emerge from the open mouth of a wooden barrel that rides low in the sea, the rest of him sealed inside it. He is soaked through the collar of his white long-sleeved shirt, the fabric dark and clinging at the neck, and the barrel's staves are waterlogged, a rusted iron hoop biting into the wood at the rim right under his chin. His chin rests on the front rim of the barrel, the wood pressed against his throat; his soaked blonde hair is pushed back off his forehead and flattened to his skull by the water, a few strands stuck to his cheek, the shorter pieces at his nape lifting in the breeze. His bare shoulders and arms are entirely swallowed by the barrel, no hands anywhere in the frame, and the barrel's bulk hides everything below his collarbones. The barrel is canted slightly, one side of the rim dragging lower into the water, taking his weight so his head tilts back a little and his gaze angles up and off toward the far edge of the frame, unfocused, at nothing in particular -- not at the viewer. His mouth is a small, tired closed-lip smile, eyes narrowed against the glare, one brow a hair higher than the other. The sea is the whole environment: a deep blue-green swell rolling past in long low ridges, the barrel seated in a trough so the waterline rides halfway up its side and a dark wet band marks the wood where the swell has been licking it. Fine bright caustic ripples bounce off the barrel's curved flank and off the underside of his jaw. The open top of the barrel is a small dark interior that swallows his shoulders; a thin strand of kelp trails over one hoop. No land, no boat, no other figure anywhere in the water, the horizon cutting a clean pale line in the upper third of the frame. Sunlight comes from the upper right and hard off the water, its reflection shattering into a glitter path that runs up toward the horizon and misses the barrel, while the left side of his face and the shade side of the barrel fall into cool blue shadow. Palette: blue-green and white sea, weathered grey-brown wood, warm blonde and bleached white cloth, nothing else admitted. Soft cel-shaded anime rendering with clean linework and smooth water gradients. Quiet, sun-worn, oddly serene.
