More to See

1girl, solo, elf, pointy ears, pale skin, light hair, long hair, platinum blonde hair, sapphire eyes, blue eyes, barefoot, sleeveless white silk tunic, silver embroidery, cream linen trousers, sitting, sitting on sand, seashore, beach, ocean, from behind, from above, three-quarter back view, head turned, profile, looking to the side, looking at the sea, wind, hair blowing, leaning back on one hand, arm support, knees drawn up, one knee raised, dusk, wide shot The camera looks down from behind and slightly above her right shoulder: a three-quarter back view of a single elf girl seated alone on the shore, her body angled away from the lens and her head turned to profile so that only the far edge of one sapphire eye shows between the fall of her light hair. She sits low on damp, dark-packed sand just above the waterline, weight settled back onto her right hip and right hand, palm flat and fingers spread with sand ridging up between them; her left knee is drawn up with the left forearm laid across it and her left hand hanging loose from the wrist, the bare toes of her right foot curled under the sand's surface. Her long platinum-blonde hair is unbound and lifts sideways off her shoulders in the sea wind, strands dragging across her cheek and a few tips pasting briefly to her jaw; the sleeveless white silk tunic pulls taut over her back and one strap slides a little toward her shoulder blade, its silver embroidery catching as a row of thin cold sparks, while the cream linen trousers bunch and crease at the hips and one cuff is darkened and heavy where the surf has reached it. The view opens out beyond her: a wide, empty beach sweeping in a single leading curve to the left, wet sand in the foreground holding her sitting print and a scatter of heel marks, flat shallow water sheeting over it in a thin glassy film, then low breakers, then the horizon set high in the frame and an enormous cool sky filling the upper third. Low evening sun sits off-frame to the right and slightly behind the camera, raking across the scene: her shadow stretches forward and left across the sand, long and soft-edged, the surf line glows, her back and the crown of her hair take the warm light while her face in profile falls into cool shade with the light rimming her ear and jaw. The palette is held to cool sea blues and silvered sand against warm pale gold light, with the white silk and cream linen as the brightest values and the only saturated notes the deep sapphire of that one visible eye and the silver thread. Fine, nearly invisible brushwork throughout, skin blended in soft warm gradients, glossy highlights on the silk and the wet sand, a faint salt haze softening the far water. On a small flat stone beside her right hand sits a single spiral seashell, the only object that breaks the smooth sand. Quiet, salt-air stillness.
