character: ellen_joe, copyright: zenless_zone_zero pov, from below, extreme close-up, sole focus, 1girl, short black hair with red inner strands and a red streak at the fringe, red eyes, sharp toothy half-lidded gaze off to the side, sitting on a dojo floor, leaning back on both hands, legs stretched toward the camera, bare soles filling the foreground, toes spread very wide, sweaty skin, sheen, sweat drops, white karate gi jacket worn as the only garment, gi front loose and hanging open, chest unbound beneath the cloth, no bra, dojo, wooden floor, shoji screens, gym mats, unaware of viewer, exhausted, after training The camera is low, at floor height, looking up along the dojo boards: the viewer is seated directly in front of her spread soles, so close that the near foot's heel is out of frame and the ball of the foot dominates the lower third. Her soles fill the foreground — the nearer one angled slightly left with the arch cupped and the toes splayed very wide, the gaps dark between them, the far foot tucked a half-step behind it and turned slightly inward, heel resting on the wood. Every toe is fanned to its limit; the little toes curl outward, the big toes pulled apart, and a bead of sweat sits in the crease under the toes and runs a slow line down the arch where the boards are already darkened and damp beneath her heels. Her weight is on both palms behind her, arms locked straight, elbows flexed, the gi jacket shrugged back off her shoulders so the collar lies open across her chest; the cloth hangs loose, unbound underneath, sweat beaded in the hollow of her throat and running down the sternum where the jacket falls open in a shallow V. The sleeves are pushed to the elbows, the sash is hanging looser than it was cinched, and the hem of the jacket is rucked across her thighs. Her head is tipped back a little, chin lifted, eyes half-closed and looking away past the shoji at nothing, mouth slack with a single sharp tooth catching the light — no attention on the lens at all, the soft open-mouth pant of someone who has just stopped moving. Hair sticks to her temple in damp strands, the red inner layer showing at the heat-stuck edges. Behind her the dojo holds a rack of staves along one wall, a strip of spring light through the paper screens on the right, and empty boards stretching away, dust suspended in the beam. Late-afternoon light comes from the shoji at frame right, low and warm, raking across the soles so the texture of the pads is picked out and the heel casts a soft shadow into the wood grain; the left side of the room falls into cool dim shade. Palette is the warm blond of the boards, the white of the gi gone grey in the folds, black hair and red eyes and the red streak, the green-brown shadow of the mats. Quiet, worn-out calm.
