The camera is low and close to the ground, tilted slightly up: Cure Lemonade and Cure Custard sit pressed back to back at the centre of the frame on a cracked dirt and gravel clearing, their spines against each other, shoulders overlapping, hips flaring apart left and right. Cure Lemonade is on the left, three-quarter view turned inward; her golden twin-drill hair is dishevelled and half-collapsed from the struggle, a striped scrunchie sliding loose, her right eye squeezed shut, the left eye wet and glaring, teeth bared and clenched, cheeks and the tips of her ears flushed red, a streak of dirt and a thin scratch across one cheek; her tattered yellow dress is ripped at the hem and one sleeve, the ruffled layers hanging in shreds. Cure Custard is on the right, turned the other way, orange ponytail askew, squirrel-ear hair band crooked, red-brown eyes wide and rimmed with welling tears she is fighting back, teeth gritted, face flushed, one shoulder hunched as she shrinks inward; her yellow dress and white elbow gloves are scuffed, torn at the knee and the cuff, dust smeared over the fabric. Both have their arms wrenched behind their backs, wrists and forearms lashed tightly together with layered red-and-black ribbon, and further bands of the same ribbon run in tight coils around both stomachs, cinching their waists and pinning the two bodies into one bundled mass; the ribbon is taut enough to crease the fabric beneath it, and loose tails trail down onto the gravel. A long ribbon from the staff is snapped across their bound arms mid-strike, a thin red-black lash of cloth bent in a whip's curve, dust kicked up where it just met the ribbon wrapping. To the right, closer to the lens and taller in frame because of the low angle, the young Majorina stands in a wide stance, one booted foot planted up on a low grey boulder, knee raised, leaning her weight forward over the two captives. She wears a deep hood pulled up casting a shadow across the upper half of her face, only a sharp green-eyed stare and a wide gleeful grin catching the light; long dark hair spills past the hood, a red-and-black ribbon staff gripped in her raised right hand, arm cocked back, the ribbon still uncoiling from the tip toward the girls. Her left hand rests on her lifted knee. Her gaze is locked down on the two bound figures, chin lowered, enjoying the strike. The single light source is a cold late dusk glow from the upper left: it rims the top of Majorina's hood and her raised arm and the wet line of Custard's lower lid, leaves the space between the two girls' shoulders in deep shadow, and casts long, low shadows of the rock and the staff across the gravel toward the right. Palette: dusty ochre ground, dead grey-blue sky, the saturated yellow of the two damaged dresses, the deep red-and-black of the ribbon and the staff, and Majorina's shadowed hood reading near-black. Fine gravel dust hangs in the air where the ribbon cracked, catching the light. The ribbons crease and bite into the bodices; the boulder's shadow lies flat and hard on the ground. Menacing, breath-held.
