One light source only: a fierce white backlight behind her, low and wide, throwing her whole silhouette into rim light -- every loose hair, every ribbon edge, every paper corner burning bright and thin -- while her front drops into deep shadow, her face lit only by the secondhand gleam off the mirror shards and the underside of the spinning pages. Her cast shadow sprawls toward the viewer across a bare, seamed floor whose crack lines run in the same direction the debris travels. The palette admits exactly three things -- bone white, ink black, and a single hot red that lands in the ribbons, the inside of her open mouth and one crack running through the porcelain mask -- with a cold teal sitting only in the deepest shadow. Ink splatter breaks the lower edge of the frame. Wild, exultant.
