Ichinose Shiki: A Winter's Snow Globe

There is something so serene about Ichinose Shiki that always draws me in, and this winter scene captures her gentle elegance perfectly. I love how she holds that snow globe so delicately, surrounded by the falling snow and wearing that cozy coat. If you share my love for Shiki, please leave a like and follow for more! I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

More to See

1girl, solo, pinkish dark hair, long wavy hair, dark rose-pink hair with dusky mauve shadows, hair down, cute smile, closed-mouth smile, innocent expression, soft wide eyes, looking at object, sitting on snow, sitting, knees drawn up, dress, pale blue cotton dress, jacket, oversized cream wool jacket, large buttons, jacket open over dress, holding, frosted glass ornament, holding with both hands, cupped hands, snowflakes, falling snow, snow on hair, snow on jacket shoulders, winter, from above, close-up, three-quarter view, cold, soft light, pastel palette The camera looks down at a slight three-quarter angle from just above her, close enough that her shoulders and knees fill the lower frame and the snow becomes a soft white field behind her. She sits directly on the snow, hips settled, weight shifted onto her left hip so her right knee rides higher, both legs folded and her boots tucked under the hem of the pale blue cotton dress, whose skirt is spread and slightly compressed where her thigh presses it flat. The oversized cream wool jacket hangs open over the dress, its large buttons unfastened, its collar standing up; the sleeves are pushed back just enough that her wrists show, and the jacket's thick shoulder seams bunch where she hunches slightly forward. Both hands cup a small frosted glass ornament at chest height, thumbs at its rim, fingers curled underneath; her fingertips have gone faintly pink against the cold glass, and her breath fogs the air just above it. Her face tilts down toward the ornament, eyes soft and wide and fixed on it, lips pressed in a small closed-mouth smile with the corners tucked, one brow lifted a touch — an innocent, unguarded look, not aimed at the viewer. Snowflakes drift down between the camera and her; a few have settled on the upward-facing surfaces only — the crown of her wavy pinkish dark hair, the tops of her jacketed shoulders, the outer edge of the ornament's rim and the flat of her folded knee — while the vertical faces of her hair and jacket stay clear, and one flake has landed and half-melted on a fingertip. Beyond her, everything resolves into seamless, featureless snowfield with no horizon line, so the only darks in the frame are the dusky mauve depths of her hair and the shadow her body presses into the snow beneath her. Light is cold, even, overcast daylight with no sun disc, coming from the upper left; it rims the falling flakes and leaves a pale blue shadow pooled under her hips and against the inner folds of the jacket, and the rest of the white field is gently darker at the frame edges. Palette is confined to the cream wool, the pale blue cotton dress, the rose-and-mauve of her hair and the blue-white of the snow. Quiet, tender.
