Story Chapter 30: The Last Dance

Daniel barely had time to react before Mirage twisted her wrists sharply and slipped free of his weakened grip. In one swift movement, she turned, caught him off balance, and shoved him backward onto the bed. Before he could recover, she climbed over him, straddling his waist and pinning him beneath her. Her long black hair fell over her shoulders as she looked down at him with a knowing smile. Daniel stared up at her, bewildered by the sudden reversal. “Well, Daniel,” she murmured, adjusting her position, “you certainly made this evening more interesting.” For a moment, the atmosphere became strangely intimate, her expression playful and his attention completely occupied by her. He seemed to believe she had finally given in to his advances. Mirage leaned closer, allowing the silence to stretch. Then her gloved hand moved behind her dress and returned holding a small syringe. Daniel's eyes widened as he noticed it. “Wait—what is that?” “Something to help you sleep,” she replied sweetly. Before he could push her away, she pressed the syringe against his shoulder and administered the sedative. His expression changed from confusion to alarm, but his strength quickly began to fade. Mirage watched carefully until he could no longer resist, then withdrew the syringe and set it aside. “Sorry, darling, but not tonight.” She rose from the bed and straightened her red dress, the teasing smile disappearing as her attention returned to the mission. Daniel lay unconscious beneath the hotel room's warm lamplight. Mirage had escaped his trap, but she still needed the passkey. She glanced toward his discarded jacket, wondering whether he had kept it with him. The night was far from over.
