His messy long mane is two-toned: light grey strands across the brow on the near side, black strands tumbling down the far side and over the collar, spilling past the shoulder in a loose unkempt mass; a black ribbon ties a short ponytail at the back of the skull, its ends flipping up. The head is a horse's: long muzzle thrust toward the viewer and slightly to their left, nostrils flaring, ears pricked, white fur short and dense with a soft sheen across the cheekbone and a bristly forelock between the eyes. Both eyes are red with narrow vertical slit pupils, and they are locked straight on the viewer, the lower lids lifted so the whites show under them and one brow ridge arches higher than the other; the lips peel back into a wide evil smile that bares the teeth, two of them sharp fangs at the corners. A single golden earring with a red gemstone hangs from the near ear, the gem catching and throwing back the red glow of the forest, and the earring swings slightly forward of the jaw on its own momentum. At the throat a white ascot is knotted tight beneath the jaw, its folds compressed and one tail of it riding up, and a red bowtie sits square in the knot of it with a sharp central pinch; over the shoulders a white capelet is fastened, its hem lifted away from the chest on the near side as if the figure had just turned. Behind and around him a dark misty fantasy forest fills the depth: black trunks, bare clawing branches, roots humped out of the soil, all of it sunk in shadow so that only their near edges catch any light; the air is thick with red mist rolling in slow bands from the right to the left of the frame, and its density is highest at ground level, thinning as it climbs. The only light is a diffuse light red light that seems to come from the mist itself, strongest low and to the right of frame, and it rims the underside of the muzzle, the near cheek, the white capelet's lower edge and the silver tail hair behind him; everything above and to the upper left falls away into near-black. Behind the shoulder, the silver horse tail is visible curving up and out of the mist, long strands catching the red glow so the silver reads distinctly cooler and paler than the white of the neck fur. On the ground in the lower part of the frame, half-swallowed by mist, a dark wooden cradle rests on its curved rockers on the wet soil, its hood toward the viewer, one small blanket hanging over the edge and trailing a corner into the mud; a short distance from it, blood splatter is flung across the ground and the roots in a fan of bright wet droplets that beads on a leaf and drips, the spatter still glossy and reflecting the red light, with the darkest pooled saturation sitting in the deepest groove of the roots. Palette discipline: white and silver fur, black and grey mane, and the red of mist, gemstone, bowtie and blood, over near-black bark — nothing else admitted. Rendering: high-contrast with bold halftone dots in the shadow gradients, thick outlines, punchy neon red accents bleeding into the mist, graffiti-like flare marks at the frame edges, pop-graphic chaos compressed into a portrait. Menacing, bloodthirsty.
