Tsubaki 3

More to See

aerial view, from above, high angle, bird's-eye view, bank of japan head office, classical stone architecture, neo-baroque facade, massive columned portico, rusticated stone base, copper-green domed roof, multiple wings around a central courtyard, wide cobblestone approach, daytime, clear sky, hard sunlight, long cast shadows, cinematic lighting, warm light against cool shadows, city rooftops surrounding, no people, no text signage, abandoned stillness, single building, wide shot. Seen from directly above and slightly off-axis, the Bank of Japan head office fills the frame: a long neo-baroque stone block of pale grey granite, its main wing running diagonally across the composition with the domed central pavilion as the anchor at the frame's upper third, flanked by lower wings that fold away toward the edges. Eight engaged columns rise along the front portico, casting short hard shadows onto the steps; the copper dome catches a warm highlight on its sun-facing side and darkens to nearly black on its lee side. A rectangular inner courtyard opens behind the main wing, unreadable in shadow, its stone floor pale and empty. The wide cobblestone approach splits the lower-left corner into radial paving bands and a dry fountain basin at the center. The sun is high and slightly behind the building — mid-morning or early afternoon — so the long elevation facing the camera sits in cool shadow while the courtyard walls and the dome's upper curve are struck with warm white light. Cast shadows from the cornices and the column capitals lie across the steps below them, sharp-edged and short. The surrounding city falls into the margins: flat dark-grey rooftops, narrow streets threading between low modern blocks, a few street trees reduced to small green dots. No moving cars, no pedestrians — the forecourt is empty. The building's name, "日本銀行本店", is carved into the stone above the main entrance: large, capitalized, formal serif lettering cut into the granite face, with the carved recesses darker than the flat stone. The letters curve slightly with the cornice above them and are caught in the cool shadow of the portico. No other text appears on the facade; all other surfaces — windows, gates, street signs — read as illegible texture. Palette: pale granite grey, copper-green dome, deep cool shadow from the north face, warm daylight on sun-facing stone, muted slate rooftops around. Texture: photographic realism with crisp architectural detail; stone grain visible on the columns, glinting copper on the dome, cobblestone joints in the forecourt. Mood: silent, monumental, precise.
