character: hoshimachi_suisei, houshou_marine 2girls, houshou_marine, hoshimachi_suisei, sleeping, napping, lying, on clouds, cloud surface, midair, from above, from side, high angle, close-up, upper body, eyes closed, relaxed, peaceful, red hair, long hair, twintails, hair ribbon, heterochromia, red eyes, yellow eyes, blue hair, long hair, hair between eyes, blue eyes, hat, beret, gloves, jacket, skirt, leotard, jewelry, earrings, bare shoulders, back to back, arm support, arm under head, head rest, hair spread out, clouds, sea of clouds, blue sky, sunlight, warm light, soft light, lens flare, palette, blue and white and red, soft focus, anime coloring, cinematic lighting, Seen from above and slightly to the side, two figures lie asleep on the upper surface of a cloud bank, drifting high above a floor of open sky. The cloud is a solid, pale mass with a billowing edge that falls away behind them into a distant lower deck; the two lie back to back along its crest, bodies sunk a finger's depth into the vapor where their weight presses, so the cloud surface dimples and puffs up in a soft ridge around their hips and shoulders. Houshou Marine lies on her left side facing away from the camera, one arm folded under her head as a pillow, the other hand resting palm-up on the cloud with her glove's fingertips just breaking its surface; her long red twintails and their ribbons spill outward across the white in a wide fan, a few strands lifted and stirred by the slow high-altitude air, and her hat sits tilted forward so the brim shades her closed eyes — the lit side of her cheek and bare shoulder catch the sun, the rest of her face in its own soft shadow. Behind her, Hoshimachi Suisei lies on her right side, back curved against Marine's back so the two spines are a single shallow S, knees drawn up; her beret is pushed back, her long blue hair with its strands between the eyes spread over the cloud and over Marine's shoulder, and one gloved hand is loosely curled near her own chin, the other tucked between them where their backs meet. Both faces are slack and quiet with sleep, lids fully closed, mouths barely parted, chests rising in slow mismatched rhythm. Sunlight comes from the upper left as a single warm source, rimming the top edge of the cloud and the crown of each head in pale gold, laying the hat's shadow across Marine's brow and Suisei's beret shadow across her cheek, and throwing one long soft shadow of the pair down the cloud's far slope; below and beyond, the sky darkens from pale turquoise at the cloud's edge to deep blue at the top of the frame, with no other clouds inside the light's reach. The palette holds to white vapor, sky blue, and the red of Marine's hair and ribbons as the only warm accent, with Suisei's blue hair reading almost as a second sky. A thin haze of ice crystals glitters only on the upward-facing faces of the cloud and on the two figures' shoulders and hat crowns, none on their undersides. Serene, weightless.
